Cybex has added a lot of bells and whistles to their car seats using SensorSafe™ Technology. What is SensorSafe? That sounds like the perfect place to begin with this Aton 2 Product Review.

What Is Sensorsafe™ Technology?

SensorSafe™ Technology is built right into the chest clip of every Cybex car seat. It connects to your car’s receiver sending alerts right to the mobile app on your phone.

So, what’s cause for alarm?

You’ll get a push notification to your phone if babe is still secured in the Aton 2 when the car is switched off. It also alerts the designated emergency contact if the situation is not remedied. As the emergency contact, you will get GPS coordinates of the vehicle’s last known position. Very “George Jetson”, don’t you think?

Through the app and the SensorSafe Technology, you are even able to keep tabs on your baby’s comfort by monitoring ambient temperature. It also lets you know if your baby has been buckled into their seat for too long. Let’s be honest, you could probably use a rest stop too, so pull over and stretch out!

Another amazing feature of SensorSafe technology is it will alert you if the little genius has figured out how to undo the chest clip while the car is still moving. Yes, your infant is too little to un-clip themselves, but the Eternis S is a convertible car seat from Cybex and it is fully equipped with the same tech.

The receiver gets plugged directly into your car’s OBD port, and syncs with the caregiver’s phone via the SensorSafe app. If you aren’t an “app guy”, then this seat probably isn’t the one for you. The app helps you ensure proper use of the seat by providing guidance on installation, has lots of “how to” videos, FAQs, and is also a direct link to Cybex customer service.

• L.S.P. (or Linear Side-Impact Protection)

The L.S.P. looks kind of like an extra little arm that flips out from the base of the handle on the side that faces the car’s door. This little arm is made from flexible material, triggering a linear reaction to take those initial forces from the crash and absorbs them into the shell of the seat. In tests, the seat with the L.S.P. extended saw a reduction of side impact forces by up to 25% versus the same seat without it.

The Load Leg Base is provides extra structure to the Aton 2. This is exactly like it sounds – it’s an extra leg that is fully adjusts to fit your car, extending from the base unit, to the floor of your vehicle to give the seat extra stability. In the event of a collision, this leg can help reduce crash forces by up to 50%. It takes the energy from the impact and transfers it to the floor of your car, away from your baby.

Travel the World

The Aton 2 Infant Car Seat is easy to bring where ever you go.

Because of the European Belt Routing, you can buckle it in with or without the base. This means you can travel the world, or just easily get around in a taxi or Uber! This seat install is pretty easy to figure out – just follow the colour coding on the belt routing system. Make your final adjustments and tighten so it can’t move more than an inch in either direction and you’re good to go. Again, the SensorSafe app has instructions and easy to follow videos accessible at your fingertips.

The Aton 2 can easily click right into the Cybex Gazelle S Stroller to make it an instant travel system.
