Attention parents!

There is a NEW car seat in town, and we’ve been waiting years for it to be released. The One4Life all-in-one car seat from Britax was designed to be used from birth to booster mode - no other car seats required. This car seat is so new your mom friends haven't even gotten the chance to rave and recommend it to you yet! Not to worry, we thought we would do the research for you and compare it next to one of our Britax best sellers – the classic Boulevard ClickTight.

Today, we are breaking both car seats down in a comparison style article so that you can confidently choose which seat is best for you and your growing family.

Dimensions

BOULEVARD CLICKTIGHT:

  • Product Weight: 29.4 lbs
  • Product Dimensions: (L x W x H) 23" (L) x 18.5" (W) x 23.5" (H)

ONE4LIFE:

  • Product Weight: 30 lbs
  • Product Dimensions: (L x W x H) 20.5" (L) x 19.5" (W) x 25" (H)

The One4Life will take up slightly more room in your car from side to side [an inch more space across]. The height of the seat is 1.5” more than the Boulevard, so it may take up EVER SO SLIGHTLY more room in your vehicle when rear-facing from front-to-back.

Height & Weight Specs

BOULEVARD CLICKTIGHT:

  • Weight Limit: 5-65 lbs
  • Rear Facing: 40 lbs
  • Height: up to 49"

ONE4LIFE:

  • Weight Limit: 5-65 lbs + 120 lbs in Booster Mode
  • Rear Facing: 50 lbs
  • Height: up to 49” in Harness Mode, up to 63” in Booster Mode.

Both seats can be used from 5-65 lbs in harness mode. The Boulevard ClickTight maxes out at 65 lbs and it is then time to transition to a next stage seat. The One4Life transitions from a harnessed car seat to a high back booster seat, by tucking away the harness straps and using the vehicle seat belt to restrain your child. There are shoulder guides to assist in achieving a proper belt fit [centered across your child’s collarbone and low on the hips/across the upper thighs]. The One4Life can be used to 120 lbs in booster mode.

The One4Life can be used rear-facing to 50 lbs, whereas the Boulevard ClickTight can be used rear-facing to 40 lbs.

Can we put this into perspective for you? If your little is BIG and TALL the O4L allows you to keep them rear-facing long after their fourth birthday, it is truly an extended rear-facing seat.

ClickTight Install

BOULEVARD CLICKTIGHT:

  • Yes, use the circle at the front of the car seat to open the ClickTight door. Push it in and twist, then pull up to reveal the seatbelt path.

ONE4LIFE:

  • Yes, pinch the two sides of the ClickTight door located at the front of the seat and pull open to reveal the seatbelt path.

The One4Life has an added bonus of a layer of padding that covers up the spot where the seat opens. This is a nice comfort feature so your tiny passenger’s legs aren’t irritated.

Harness Positions

BOULEVARD CLICKTIGHT:

  • 14 Positions
  • Lowest harness slot height: 8.35”
  • Highest harness slot height: 19.4"
  • Crotch strap positions: 2- 5.25" & 7" from rear of seat

ONE4LIFE:

  • 15 Positions
  • Lowest harness slot height: 9"
  • Highest harness slot height: 19"
  • Crotch strap positions: 3- 5.5”, 6.75” & 8.75” from rear of seat

Both car seats have headrests and harnesses that adjust up and down as one unit by using the lever on the top of the headrest.

The Boulevard ClickTight must have a pre-loosened harness in order to adjust, whereas the One4Life harness will self-adjust as you move the headrest up and down. The benefit of both of these car seats is that you will have the headrest in the proper position at all times, as long as your straps are coming from the proper spot on your child [at or below the shoulders when rear-facing, at or above the shoulders when forward-facing].

Recline Positions

BOULEVARD CLICKTIGHT:

  • 7 Positions

ONE4LIFE:

  • 9 Positions

The position of the recline adjustment is in 2 different places on the car seats. The Boulevard ClickTight adjusts using a lever on the front of the seat and the One4Life adjusts using a red button located on the side of the seat. In our opinion, both are equally as easy to use and access.

Note: Recline positions are not a comfort feature like on a La-z-boy. Recline positions are options built into the seat to be able to find a proper fit on your vehicle seat [based on the slope of your vehicle seat].

Safety Features

LAYERS OF SIDE IMPACT PROTECTION

  • Boulevard ClickTight: 2
  • One4Life: 2
Both car seats have 2 layers of Side Impact Protection in the headrest to protect the most vulnerable parts of the child – the head, neck, and spine.

ANTI-REBOUND BAR

  • Boulevard ClickTight: Yes
  • One4Life: Yes
Both car seats come with an anti-rebound bar for use in rear-facing to reduce rotation in case of a collision. The anti-rebound bar on the One4Life is mesh, whereas the anti-rebound bar on the Boulevard ClickTight is a single bar.

ADDITIONAL SAFETY FEATURES

Both the Boulevard ClickTight and the One4Life are equipped with steel frames, Britax’s patented SafeCell Impact Protection and V-Shaped tethers for use when forward-facing.

Extras

EASY TO READ LEVEL INDICATORS The Boulevard uses a bubble level indicator and requires the bubble to fall within a specific range based on your child’s age/weight/development. The One4Life uses an arrow system that requires the arrow to be within a certain colour/design [stripes or solid colours], depending on your child’s age/weight/development. Both are equally as easy to use and understand – just different methods. Britax does a wonderful job making it nice and clear on the side of the seat and easily digestible in their manuals.

HARNESS PADS

Boulevard ClickTight:
  • 2 separate harness pads located on either side of the harness are included with your purchase
  • “HUGS” [Harness Ultra-Guard System] are on Boulevard ClickTight models OTHER THAN the Stainless models.
    • HUGS are the grey plastic pieces that are designed to ensure proper positioning of the chest clip and provide resistance to the forward movement of your child in a crash, reducing injury.
One4Life:
  • 2 harness pads are included with your purchase, but they are designed as 1 single piece that is strung together to keep the pads in place at the top of the car seat. Having them together prevents you from losing just one, and from falling down and interfering with proper chest clip positioning

CUP HOLDERS

Boulevard ClickTight:
  • Sold separately
One4Life:
  • 2 Included cup holders on either side
