Silver Cross Reef Stroller Review

Every parent wants to provide their new little one with the best life has to offer. While not all babies are born with a silver spoon in their mouths, it doesn’t mean they can’t have an ultra-luxurious ride.

If you’re looking for a stroller that will make your baby feel like royalty, it may be time to roll out the red carpet for Silver Cross’ new Reef Stroller!

Blending refined elegance with high-end performance, the Reef stands out among its competition when it comes to craftsmanship and attention to detail. Silver Cross continually strives to innovate, and the Reef implements a few design changes that make it more user-friendly than previous stroller models.

Let’s explore why you should seriously consider adding the Reef to your growing family.

WHAT WE LOVE ABOUT IT

THE SPECS:

  • Dimensions: 33” L x 24” W x 39 - 44” H
  • Folded Dimensions: 28” L x 24” W x 12” H
  • Weight: 27.5 lbs. Suitable from birth up to 55 lbs.

There are 3 things that make the Reef immediately stand out:

1. HIGH-QUALITY, SUSTAINABLE FABRICS

Silver Cross
uses exclusively woven fabrics that are made with recycled plastic bottles (The seat alone boasts 35 bottles!). Any company that helps curb our planet’s plastic issue is A-OK in our books. Also, a closer inspection of the fabrics reveals a level of quality that is rarely seen in other strollers. The Reef comes in “Orbit” (black), as well as a dreamy “Earth” fashion.

2. 4-WHEEL SUSPENSION

Most strollers come with front-wheel suspension to help smooth the ride. Silver Cross one-ups everyone by designing the Reef with a full suspension system. Its extra-large rear wheels have deep treads, which are perfect for any type of terrain.

3. EASY COMPACTING

The Reef compacts with a super easy one-handed fold. Just fold the seat forward and pull down on the handlebar. To open the stroller, simply reverse the steps. For easy carrying when collapsed, Silver Cross even added a handle to the stroller. We also love that the Reef stands independently on its own four wheels (so you don’t have to worry about the handlebar getting dirty).

THAT’S GENIUS

The Reef’s seat is one of the stroller's spotlight features as it comes outfitted with Silver Cross’ revolutionary Genius Harness System.

This 5-point harness uses magnets that clip together for a less fussy fastening experience. Every parent knows that wrangling a wiggling baby can be challenging at times, this feature will help get baby strapped in a lot easier on those difficult days.

Behind the seat is an adjuster that slides the harness and headrest up and down, resizing them together in a split second.

Additionally, the seat is fully reclinable, comes with an adjustable footrest, and can be faced towards you or outwards to the world.

COMFORTABLY CONVENIENT

Silver Cross loads the Reef with a number of must-have features for both comfort and convenience:

  • BUMPER BAR: Babies can hold onto the front bumper bar which is made from vegan leather for a durable and comfortable grip. The bar also detaches for better access when loading and unloading your little one.

  • RAIN OR SHINE: The Reef comes with a rain cover so you can get out and about in inclement weather without worrying about disturbing baby. When the sun is shining, the stroller’s UPF 50+ canopy will protect your little one from the harsh rays. For extra protection, you can even utilize the sun sail extension, which pulls out over the stroller’s handlebar to ensure your baby’s whole body is kept cool and in the shade.

  • FRESH AIR: The rear of the canopy has a flip-up flap that allows fresh air to flow freely through the stroller.

  • WONDER WHEELS: Lockable, “never-wear” wheels are built to last and make sure the stroller doesn’t move when stationary.

  • HANDY HANDLE: Parents of all heights can find the perfect grip by adjusting the telescoping handlebar.

  • ROOMY BASKET: A storage basket under the seat lets parents store up to 11 lbs. of baby essentials for their day out.

5-IN-1

Silver Cross designed the Reef as a 5-in-1 stroller to be used in the following configurations:

1. STROLLER SEAT: Facing towards mom and dad.

2. STROLLER SEAT: Facing outwards, towards the world.

3. REEF BASSINET: Silver Cross produced the world’s first baby carriage back in 1877, so it makes sense they would make their stroller compatible with their high-end bassinet. It’s fully ventilated, anti-bacterial, and hypoallergenic with uber-soft Bamboo fabrics for the perfect sleep every time. Best of all, the bassinet is approved for overnight sleeping, so you can head out for the whole day and into the evening, knowing your baby is safe and comfortable.

4. REEF NEWBORN POD: An alternative to the Reef Bassinet is the Reef Newborn Pod. It’s basically a miniature cocoon for babies that fits perfectly on top of the fully-reclined stroller seat.

5. CAR SEAT: The Reef is also compatible with Silver Cross’ Reef Car Seat and 3rd party models. To attach the car seat, you’ll need to purchase an adapter.

Finally, you can add on the Reef Snack Tray and the Reef Cup Holder, to keep food and drinks close at hand.

Smooth Sailing

Simply put, the Reef is on a whole other level when it comes to baby cruisers. Silver Cross delivers a quality product that looks and feels high-end while incorporating practical features that allow the Reef to grow with your family.

Thoughtful design features make for a user-friendly experience that parents will appreciate for many years. Even though the Reef comes with a premium price tag, the comfort level and exquisite detail of this product will convince you that it is money well spent.
