Coral XP & Mico XP Max

Dorel Juvenile Canada (Maxi-Cosi) has issued a voluntary recall on Maxi-Cosi Coral XP and Maxi-Cosi Mico XP Max rear-facing infant car seats.

Please be aware that Dorel Juvenile Canada has issued a voluntary recall on all Maxi-Cosi Coral XP and Maxi-Cosi Mico XP Max rear-facing infant car seats and Maxi-Cosi Infant Car Seat Base models. The self-retracting lower anchor systems fail to conform to the provisions of Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) NO. 213 “Child Restraint Systems” that prohibit the complete separation of any load-bearing structural element during dynamic testing.
Dorel believes that the deformation of the self-retracting lower anchor mechanism over time can prevent the retractor mechanism from fully locking with the result that affected products may not maintain secure installation in the vehicle during a crash increasing the risk of injury to the child restraint occupant. There have been no injuries reported related to this non-compliance.

This recall involves the following model names and model numbers:

  • Maxi-Cosi Coral XP Infant Seats:
  • Maxi-Cosi Mico XP Max Infant Seats:
  • Infant Seat Bases:
  • Travel Systems:

As of March 2023, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada.

Dorel Juvenile Canada expects to offer owners a free replacement base once one is available. Dorel Juvenile Canada will provide additional information on the remedy once it is available. Pending the availability of the remedy, owners will be advised that the product, whether used with the base or shell only, should only be secured using the vehicle seat belt system consistent with the label and instructions and customers should NOT be used by securing the units to the UAS. Please do not bring the affected products to Snuggle Bugz store locations as we cannot provide you with a refund.
