    Be Careful

I ordered this car seat two days after it was made available. We had a very positive experience with our UppaBaby Infant seat and upon doing extensive research on second stage seats (also having a lot of experience as this is our third child) we went with this seat. The safety features are outstanding and reading that the seat cover was washable was a huge selling point (along with the detachable cup holder). We ordered online for a lot of reasons (all which lead back to living in a pandemic and having a severely immune compromised family member). This was my first mistake. I wrongly assumed our 2019 Dodge Caravan (a large and spacious minivan) which has a rear passenger captain seat (where this seat was going to be installed) would pose zero spacing issues. I was very very wrong. I have not cried more in the last few days than I have in a long time. This seat, when positioned rear facing, is virtually impossible to get a 13 month old (average sized toddler/baby) in. I was CERTAIN it was installed wrong because there was no way a car seat manufacturer would make it this impossible to put a baby in a new model MINI VAN. We are positive it's installed correctly. I'm also acutely aware I spent a significant amount of money on a car seat that is non-returnable and we are stuck with for a significant amount of time (years) until we can turn it forwards. But even then...I don't know how as my baby grows I will manage to get them in it rear facing as we can BARELY (I don't know how to articulate magic and crying into one verb that would describe how it's happening now) do it now. If you have a Dodge Caravan MiniVan please know this will NOT work rear facing in your car if you have sliding passenger doors and captain chairs. Oh and the awesome "removeable" car seat fabric that is washable? Only applies to one part, the seat where your kiddies bum sits...a teeny tiny portion. Hope this bit helps someone else. I would not recommend and In an alternate universe where possible I would return. A mom can dream.
