Beautiful design some flaws

This pail is beautifully designed and a perfect compact shape for a small condo like ours. Effective rubber seals to keep smells out--while the pail is closed. The opening mechanism is a little small for quick use and the bag can sometimes fall through

but love that you don't have to use manufacturer bags for this pail.

Good pail but

I love my purple ubbi diaper pail. It does as advertised and was shipped quickly.

My husband believes the pail it self should be larger because he has to change the bag too often [2 kids in diapers] and he complains that the mechism which holds the bag could have been designed for better ease of use.

It's a much better choice then a plastic bin for sure and the fact that it's powder coated is a big deal. Powder coating is an expensive process which insures the paint will last really long. They also hold there value longer then any other diaper pail

Recommend for cloth diapers!

I have been using this diaper pail with the cloth pail liners for almost 8 months and it's still holding up great. Only issue was with the bag holder. The cloth liners would often fall in when putting the diapers in

especially if it was getting full. We just wrap the liners over the full can and the lid still snaps on with no problems

which works much better for us. Added a charcoal filter on the under side of the lid for an extra boost in fighting odors. Empty it every 2-3 said and no problem with smell when the lid is closed. As another review mentions

the grey has a lot of purple tone but that got well with the colours in our nursery.

Awesome product

While pricey

this diaper pail works great. It tucks away nicely in the corner. Combined with the ubbi reusable bag

Worth the price- no smell and sleek design

Overrated. Releases Odours

Do not buy this! There are better diaper pails out there

I thought this would be excellent. It was...for the first 6 months. The idea of it is brilliant

but the design and manufacture was poorly carried out. It's too bad

because it could have been really great. Once my baby started solids

I started to notice a lot of defects...and odours.

First of all

the lid kind of scoops down to open

so you have to push

then slide it open. After 3-6 months it will not slide all the way back up when it's closed

so pushing is no longer required but the rubber seal does not make contact with the lid anymore

releasing odors. I guarantee this WILL happen eventually

even if you're gentle.

Second

I was washing this pail

and it was impossible to fill up because there were leaks EVERYWHERE. More proof of odour being released. I used duct tape anywhere there were leaks

this improved the smell about 25%. The main issue is the lid and the majority of smells come from there.

Third

every time I went to remove the bag

it would snag and rip on the teeth that are under the rim for no apparent reason. I fixed this with more duct tape.

who would think you could like a diaper pail

Very happy with this diaper pail - i love that there is no lingering odor. I have grey - and it is not an eyesore in the room. Some people wish it was bigger

Perfect

Very compact

blends in nicely

and not an eyesore like some other diaper pails. You can use any bags which is a huge bonus. We use a cloth diaper service and the bags provided to us through them fit nicely. The metal it is made of masks smells and is very easy to clean. Has a locking lid option also. A word of caution if you select the Grey pail - it has a very purple undertone and against certain colours it looks purple

not grey.

Sleek and Effective!

We have the Ubbi Diaper Pail in Navy and it looks super sleek in our nursery. Even more important though

we find it contains the smell and is super easy to use. Also

we love that we can use any bags and don't have to buy a particular brand of bags for it. We put arm and hammer baking soda in the bottom just to help with the odors when we open the pail.

In love!

Never thought I would be this much excited and happy with a diaper pail but I am. I have 2 in diapers right now

and this thing is our life saver! We had a different which made our entire house smell horribly. But once we switched to this one

we have never had a problem! The price is a little pricey but with being able to use regular garbage bags and not having to deal with the smell

it's totally worth it to us!

Okay

I bought this diaper pail after reading the good reviews here

however I only give it 3.5 stars. Its a great looking diaper pail but it does not hold enough cloth diapers. Only holds 2 days worth

if that sometimes. I also find I have to wipe out and air the pail out with each diaper wash to keep the smell away. I would prefer a bigger pail

Ultimate pail

I think it's worth paying this much to keep the stink away

Worth the price

Yes

this is expensive for something that is a glorified waste bin. But it keeps smells contained

doesn't absorb smell itself over time

easy to wipe down

and it looks great. You can use any garbage bag with it. My only issue is removing the garbage bag can be a little tricky if its overfilled

as it will snag and tear. Easy solution - change the bag more frequently. Even with this issue

we love the ubbi pail and recommend it all the time.

Wish I bought this the first time!

I really wish the first time I had bought a diaper pail I had bought the Ubbi. When my first one broke I decided to bite the bullet and pay the higher cost for the Ubbi. It contains the smell and I was able to puchase one that matched my daughter's decor. We use regular trash bags in the pail which is a cost saver.

The bag will tear when it is too full but that is the only negative I have for this product

This diaper pail

not only uses your regular kitchen trash bags

but has a cloth liner option available for purchase. It is a great pail for cloth diapering. Keeps the smell in and the cloth liner just gets washed with the rest of the diaper laundry.

Great but...

Love how nice this pail looks! Also love the fact that you can use your own bags. However I do wish that it was a step system to open the chute and hubby says the bags seem to get caught on something and rip when replacing. Would buy again...

I've had my Ubbi for over 2 years now. I love how you can use kitchen bags. I would definitely have spent more than the $90 price tag on special diaper pail bags by now

if I had a different system.

I am now noticing some rust starting to form around the edges of the sliding lid [only noticeable when I open it to throw a diaper in]

and when you clean it if the rubber gasket pops off

it is difficult to get back on - even after viewing the YouTube videos on how to do it.

It does a good job of keeping the smell locked inside - except when you throw another diaper in... as to be expected.

Good for cloth diapers

This does a great job containing the smell of diapers and I now use it with the cloth diaper bags and love the system.

my only complaints are

1. It seems to rip garbage bags

2. I can see the lack of lock on the lid becoming a problem when my baby is older...annoying to have to child proof something that is designed for a kids room

Great Style and Function

With newborn diapers

the Ubbi did an excellent job of containing the dirty diaper smell. Now with diapers from a baby on solids

we keep an odour absorbing disc at the bottom of the pail

and empty the pail more often. I ended up getting a second one so that I could separate used diapers from used wipes to align with city waste disposal requirements. I find the Ubbi to be stylish and very easy to clean. I am very happy with this purchase.

This is the best diaper pail for cloth diapers! We just use the cloth insert and everything goes in the wash. It keeps the smell contained and looks really cool in the nursery!

Love my orange pail!

Very easy to use. You can use any bag you want inside which will save you money in the long term. Durable and fresh. Love all the colours to choose from but I love my orange pail since it matches my son's nursery! It has a lock feature on the slide part where you dump the diapers into. Although

it doesn't have a lock feature for the lid. We realized this when our 13 month nephew was over and walked by and lifted the lid up. Other than that this product is awesome and I would highly recommend it.

Coolest-Functional Diaper Pail

We've had a few different diaper pails over the year

all plastic and frustrating to use..and smelly..of course. Seeing this pail is metal [bonus!] and is extremely easy to use…without requiring special disposal bag or anything..i would say this is THE ONE! I know it might sound silly but i'm excited to use it with our #3 baby on the way. Cool colours to choose from

Great product!

My husband and I love this pail. We use cloth diapers and this pail holds in the smell

is very easy to clean and when you walk into the baby's room

you can't even tell there are dirty diapers in there. We also love how environmentally-friendly it is

in that if we ever switch to disposables [doubt it

but…] we can use any kind of garbage bag with this pail instead of having to use specific ones like the ones for the diaper genie.

No Smell

This diaper pail does a great job of holding in odor! No diaper smell unless you leave the latch open longer then the 2 seconds it takes to throw in a dirty diaper. Love the locking mechanism that stops kids from playing with the lid.

My only complaint is that bags snag on the plastic tabs inside when your pulling them out. Don't know why they're designed that way. We just places duct tape around them and so the bags wouldn't rip on they're way out.

Very Happy with our Ubbi

My son is only 4 weeks old

but we're loving our Ubbi pail. So much so

that I'm thinking of ordering a second one for the downstairs of our home. I'm currently still using disposables and have been using glade kitchen bags in it. We plan to switch over to cloth diapers in the next few weeks

so I'm hoping I will like it as much then. We plan to try the Ubbi wet bag with the cloth. I read a lot of reviews before purchasing this item and I think Ubbi may have made a change to the product. There are no \"Teeth\" to tear the garbage bag on the inside of the one I received. The white rim on the inside of the pail is smooth. I've had no trouble pulling the bag out so far. I'm quite happy with our Ubbi!

Great necessity!

I was a bit hesitant about the price of the Ubbi diaper pail

however I have not been disappointed. I love that it's sleek design and it blends well with the nursery decor [I bought the light grey one]. It is great that you can use any garbage bags with it

which in the long run offsets the cost of the pail. Others mention that the bags rip when pulling them out. I have had this issue

but find that it's because I was filling the bag too much. With fewer diapers in the bag it pulls out easily. Overall

Love this pail!

This pail is great. When I first got it I was expecting it to be a bit larger but this hasn't been an issue. I'm using cloth diapers and it holds about 3 days worth. I'm using the kangacare pail liners which are much bigger than the pail but they work well.

Kind of overrated...

My son is 4.5 months old

and I am doing both cloth & disposable diapers. I research products extensively before committing and I didn't know exactly which cloth bag I wanted to use [was wary of reviews of the Ubbi brand one] so I've been using Glad brand \"tall\" bags w/ Febreeze. I am so disappointed

because literally 75% of the time when I go to empty the pail

the little plastic teeth on the inner seal rip into the plastic bag. It takes this from a mildly annoying chore to a really dreaded one. When it rips

best case scenario is it just smells awful in the nursery for a few minutes after I whisk the dirty bag away. I've had the rips so big that diapers cascade out onto the floor and back into the empty pail too. So frustrating. It's not like I'm using cheap no-name plastic bags. It's the little white rectangles on the inside that catch the bag...

Anyway

I've been using the Ubbi for the disposables and just a cheap garbage pail for my cloth diapers without a bag [just disinfecting the inner pail every time]. I guess I'm going to try a cloth bag and see if I can stand the Ubbi for my cloth diapers. But overall I can't say I'm too impressed.

No Smells!

This pail is exactly what we wanted! There are no smells and it uses normal waste bags. I found that the white Glad garbage bags size large or x-large works very well with this diaper pail. We chose the bright blue colour for our son's nursery. My first try at securing the garbage didn't work and it fell to the bottom of the pail making it difficult to pick up the load of dirty diapers. However

now with practice I'm much better at it and haven't had the same difficulty again.

Sleek and easy to use^ yet completely functional

So - what more could you want? It is small yet holds a lot. made of powder coated steel so it won't absorb odours like plastic pails do

and you can use your own bags [no expensive refills necessary].

Since we use cloth

I like that you can use reusable cloth diaper bags in it and leave the lid open to prevent ammonia causing gasses to build up. No other pail gives you a venting option like this [You're laundering every other day so the room doesn't smell anyway].

When using disposables

you can use a plain garbage bag and seal 'er up so you don't get any smells.

Oh

and it's not an ugly eyesore like most other pails and not ridiculously huge either. Super cool that it comes in so many colors so that it blends into your nursery decor.

A great investment

Diaper genies are the most common purchase for new moms but after being around moms and using the genie I wanted something different when it was my turn to become a mommy. my husband hates the smell of dirty diapers [who doesn't] so I went on a hunt to find one that would minimize the smell. A friend recommended the ubbi diaper pail and assured me it was worth the money-it hasn't disappointed. If you do cloth diapering you can put your wet bag in the pail and if you do disposable use whatever plastic bag you have [no specific purchase needed]. The only smell you can detect is when you open the lid when there are diapers in the bag and even then it is minimal. You can buy stickers to personalize it or keep it plain the sleek style looks great in any room and there is a child lock to keep the curious ones out. One caution is not to over pack the bags as it makes getting it out of the can difficult. Worth every penny

Not without flaws....

I really like our Ubbi diaper pail. With that being said it isn't without it's flaws. Only weeks after we had this pail we noticed it started to rust and the seal came loose. I contacted Ubbi directly and they said they had fixed the seal issue and my rust issue was not normal and sent me a new diaper pail the next day. I have not had any issues since. I cloth diaper and i find it keeps the smell out [except when it's open obviously].

The big bonus to this pail is that you can use cloth wet bags or whatever bag you would like. Unlike other brands you are not restricted to using Ubbi branded bags.

Overall a good product that is much more stylish than it's competitors.

great diaper pail

did a lot of research and decided on this because you can use regular garbage bags. totally keeps smell out when the lid is closed! i did have a problem with the inside ridges ripping the garbage bag when i took it out. i remedied it by putting tape over the ridges on the side where it seemed to get caught on. problem solved! definitely worth the price! added benefit is that i can still use it as a regular garbage can afterwards since there are no special refill bags needed.

Love this diaper pail^ even if a few downfalls

I bought this diaper pail for the twins

LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! When it is extremely full I can smell a bit especially for older babies

but its so much better than other diaper pails I've ever seen or used.

I use Costco kitchen garbage bags in mine

which are very inexpensive.

One downfall

The bag does tend to rip when taking it out if its too full.

Nice looking but tricky with cloth!

I love the style of this pail but find the opening in the top is too small for cloth diapers. I use it and won't be changing it up any time soon

but it does bug me that it's so hard to stuff the soiled cloth diapers in. It also doesn't fit a ton of cloth diapers. That being said

it contains stink amazingly well!

Works great with our cloth diapers

Love the pistachio colour we ordered. We use planet wise pail liners with the pail

and they fit great. Have had no issues with smells as of yet

our LO is EBF. Regular kitchen catcher bags also work with it for when using disposables. Love the look and functionality of the pail

Great diaper pail!

After using another diaper pail we recieved as a gift that we really didn't like I decided to give the ubbi a try. I was reluctant because of the price but I wanted something that really kept the odor in and that I dosnt need to buy special bags for. The ubbi was it! The odor atays in amd the bags are easy to change and I can just use regular kitchen bags. Great product. Price could be lowered a bit though aeeing as its essentially a garbage can.

Stylish but can be Tricky

This pail looks great and comes in lots of colours so you can coordinate with your nursery! I chose this pail because I was able to use any biodegradable bag and not spend a ton of money on brand specific bag refills.

Says what it does and keeps the stink out! Only complaint like a lot of reviewers is the bag ripping when emptying. Took a while to master the technique.

Stylish^ sleek and worth the price! No comparison to other products!

This is a fantastic diaper pail. I bought it in Robin's Egg blue

which is such a pretty colour and one of the only diaper pails to come in funky colours. You cannot deter any odor from the pail with diapers in it at all. The best part is you can use any bag you want. The only downside is that the circular inside part where you put your bag can be a bit tricky to figure out at first.

so you are looking for a great pail and you think this one is way too expensive.... It is pricier than some of the other ones - but it works great and looks fabulous. I do think this is a great pail and I never smell dirty diapers once in the pail which is ideal however we have had issues with it ripping garbage bags when emptying the pail which is super frustrating! The company is actually trying to make a new model to remedy the problem and offered me a solution to the problem after I emailed them. A great company to deal with!

Attractive^ keeps smells in

I have used this diaper pail for cloth diapers for nearly 5 months. I'm happy with the appearance and stink-free nursery. It is good value for the price. One downside to the bag-holder design inside is that sometimes when I'm cramming in one more diaper

the holder will push below the ledge and has to be forced back up. I also purchased two of the reusable wet bags

which could be higher quality. I find they melt and stick to themselves in the hot wash with the diapers. Despite this

they are still functional. One of the strongest points of this bin design is you can use whatever plastic or drawstring bags you want. I have recommended it to others.

Not Impressed

this pail totally doesn't live up to the hype! Within a week the rubber seal was falling off! And it really doesn't hold in the stink as well as they claim! Also it seems so annoying but every time time i go to empty it the garbage bag gets all torn up from the plastic lip. Impossible to get the bag of diapers out without ripping it to pieces! Thankfully I got it on sale but still not money well spent! Im thinking a diaper genie may have been a better option?!

Best diaper pail EVER!!!

I have had three different pails all of which seemed to be great when new but once the plastic absorbed the \"diaper\" smell it was impossible to freshen it up. This Ubbi pail is GREAT!! Best diaper pail EVER!!!

I have had three different pails all of which seemed to be great when new but once the plastic absorbed the \"diaper\" smell it was impossible to freshen it up. This Ubbi pail is GREAT!! Twin 6 month olds and a 2 year olds diapers don't stand a chance with this stellar product! With the Ubbi bags that hold a tonne and make garbage day a breeze

Great Pail!

This pail is definitely worth the extra $$. We were a bit concerned with its small size when it arrived [we are using cloth diapers] but on the first run we were able to get ~25 liner and 8 covers in there without issue

and probably could have fit a couple more. We used an Apple Cheeks pail liner and had no issues sealing it or getting it out. The smell is completely gone from baby's room

Great diaper pail!! Just a bit pricey for what it is

I love my ubbi diaper pail

I love not having to buy special bags and it really does hold the smell in! My only thing was its price. It's really nothing super special for the price.

Also I find the smell holds inside the container and makes the inside of the pail smell gross and the smell is hard to get rid of.

Looks great^ no stink!

This diaper pail looks great in our nursery

and really does keep the odour in! It's easy to use

and I love that I can use a cloth diaper bag inside

as we are using cloth diapers.

Doesn't live up to hype

I agree pretty much exactly with Julieanne80's review

below. I like the sleek styling and the choice of colours – we have the pistachio and for a diaper pail it's relatively attractive – but performance wise

it loses points. Contains smell fairly well when closed

but you want to open and shut that sliding lid in a nano second or the stink is pretty bad. We moved ours out of the nursery and into the bathroom – not fair to impose that smell on the baby! I also find that the catch that holds the hinged lid in place is barely effective – won't be a deterrent at all once baby figures out how to open it. Probably the worst design flaw is the plastic bits around the rim that make it impossible to remove the bag without ripping it. Makes emptying it an even more unpleasant task. [Hubby usually does this and he hates it.] Overall

too expensive for something that doesn't seem to have been well tested before being put on the market.

MEDIOCRE PRODUCT-SOME DESIGN FLAWS!!

I bought this before my son was born after hearing pretty negative reviews about Diaper Genies and other plastic pails of that type. I wanted something that wouldn't stink and this product was supposed to be stainless steel and stink-proof. Let me say

it is NOT stink proof. I've had it for a year now

but long before now it has absorbed some smelliness. It's not really too bad when it's closed

but when you open the lid

it can get smelly quickly. We've tried pressure washing

soaking it in Mr. Clean

etc.... The garbage still absorbed some dirty diaper stench. I have no plastic pail as a point of reference to compare

but for $80

I'm not super impressed

especially since it's number one claim is it doesn't absorb odors. Also

a BIG annoying design flaw is the plastic rim that's around the top of the can when you have the lid open to change garbage bags. Along the underside of the plastic lip all around the can are pieces of plastic that hang down and rip your bag as you try and pull it out to change it. It's beyond annoying! Especially if your bag is pretty full

you'll rip that sucker all around trying to pry it out of there. What were they thinking??? Even only a bit full

I find it hard not to rip the bag getting it out of there. On the whole

it's not the worse

but certainly not the best.

great purchase

This is our second diaper pail for cloth diapers and my favourite by far. I haven't noticed any odours when opening. It is small and sleek yet holds at least two days worth of cloth diapers. It's worth the money.

Still good but need to use some tricks...

5 months later and I still like the Ubbi diaper pail. Yes

you need to be careful taking the bag out. I use kitchen bags with built in odour lock. I can start to pull the bag out

but half way through I shimmy the bulky part of the bag out. I usually still get a small tear in the bag. I have not had a full diaper explosion

however my husband has in his haste to get away from the smell. I normally tie a knot in the bag around the top bag support so it does not slip out and the bag fall down into the container. I usually store the kitchen bags and large black garbage bags in the nursery to put the diapers in a larger bag directly. Easier to carry through the house without potential leaks.

I also use a baby wipe or Lysol wipe on the outside

as a poopy diaper may graze the outside on the way in the whole. As for design changes

I would have the lid be able to open to clean inside. Not sure if it's mold or just general grossness that builds up in there

but I use a wipe and disinfecting spray to clean it out.

Considering we are dealing with stinky diapers

it does a good job keeping it all isolated.

In love with it!

My daugther is in cloth diaper. When I was looking for a pail

someone tells me that this one was one of the best.

No odor

A little bit expensive

but it is not in platic!

The sliding top is a little bit small for cloth diaper...

I don't know if it is suppose to work like this or if my pail has a defect

but the safety lock only works for the sliding top. A child can easily open the pail...

Needs improvement

Don't get me wrong

this is a great product but.... there is room for improvement and it comes down to a complaint that other reviewers have noted the bag catches on the plastic tabs when you are trying to remove it and unless you are super careful

it will result in torn bags. The solution is easy

the top plastic piece needs a redesign that will allow bags to slip by without catching on the tabs. I've solved it in a typical Canadian way I used Duct Tape to create a beveled lip. Red Green would be proud!

Good pail^ one flaw

I love the way this pail looks and functions. The only flaw is that plastic bags rip when you are emptying the pail... kind of ridiculous after all of the work they put into the design. Sometimes I do smell the diapers for the brief moment the lid is open but I don't consider this a big issue.

Better than the rest!

We bought the Ubbi after struggling with stinky plastic pails. It seems it doesn't matter what you do

plastic diaper pails will begin to stink! This pail does such a good job of locking in the general smell that you wouldn't know it's in there. Until you open the slide to put a new diaper in. A heck of a lot of stink comes out when you open the slider door. But

what else do you expect

you are storing dirty diapers in a sealed container.

Not impressed

I bought this product and was pretty excited! But it does have some pretty big flaws imo! First

because no air can escape the pail

it creates moisture between the bag and the metal can - that moisture is from the contents of the diaper so you can imagine the smell- it doesnt come out easily either

i tried baking soda

vinegar

soaking etc..

next problem is the rim of the pail has plastic lips that when you go to take your bags out of the pail it tears to shreds leaving a wonderfully smelly mess of diapers on the floor. For all the work Ubbi did to make a smell retaining the diaper pail

which they did

i wont argue it does retain odour but when you open the lids its disgusting [even when empty and a fresh bag put in]

and the shredding of bags is a major negative. We now use a regular garbage pail and have no problems!

Good Design

The diaper pail looks good and is easy to use. You put in any longer bag

we use tall kitchen garbages or compost bags

but I can see using a big shopping bag as well

and close the top. The vertical handle makes it very easy to push the door open in the dark during late night changes or with your hands full of baby and dirty diaper. My 6 year old helper has no difficulties using it. My husband loves the powder coated stainless steel--good quality and value for what you are getting. We got it in ivory and it looks great

although the variety in colours available is great to put a splash of colour in the room.

A newborn's diapers do not smell to strong at this point

but will need to see how it contains the doors as the poops progress.

We change the bag when it gets full

which is roughly a week's worth of newborn diapers.

Great product

We bought our Ubbi when looking for an alternative to plastic. Love this diaper pail and it looks as chic as a diaper pail can in our little one's nursery. We use cloth diapers and do find that the pail takes on an ammonia smell but think a lot of this may be due to the cloth bag. Smell goes away after cleaning and can only smell when the pail is open! Worth the money in my opinion.

Great diaper pail

I purchased 2 diaper pails before this one and hated them....the plastic was cheap and would scratch my hand when I pushed in the diaper. This one is great! nice thick plastic

plus we have in our bedroom and never smell anything. Im even buying a 2nd one to use for cat litter!

Works OK

I think the garbage pail works only if the bags you use in the diaper pail don't fail. kind of sounds obvious

let me explain. We use cloth diapers and bought the Ubbi cloth diaper bags. The moisture repellent coating peeled off the inside of the diaper bags after about 3 - 4 washes.

Now this means that wet diaper slowly add moisture into the garbage can

and the garbage can still absorbs a little ammonia smell. So we have to bleach and clean the pail a couple of times per week.

Perfect Pail for Cloth Diapering.

It really is a perfect pail. We use it for cloth diapering and have no odor or problems. I do recommend this pail. However

I hate how expensive it is and it arrived to us dented

which I'm not terribly pleased about.

Small and easy to use

I had an Arm and Hammer diaper pail. It would make an awful noise every time I closed the lid and it drove us crazy. I bought this pail for a friend because it takes regular kitchen bags and would save them money. Our Arm and Hammer bags cost us about $5/month and it was a pain to go buy them when we ran out. The money saved on the bags will cover the $30 difference between the two pails in no time.

We liked the one we bought for our friend so much that we bought one for ourselves for our baby-to-be.

The only con I have so far is that it is quite low so you have to lean over a lot more which can be difficult when holding an infant. I put a small storage container under it and now it is at a better height.

Best Diaper Pail I could find!

I love the simplicity and functionality of this diaper pail. When I received it

it had 2 pretty bad dents on it. Luckily they popped out easily without leaving a mark. I was weary about the quality of the metal for the price

but I have had no further problems with it. It is for sure a packaging issue since I have read other reviews with the same comment. Some of the parts are plastic. it is not all metal.

I like the fact that you can use regular kitchen bags

it is easy to change the bags

and it locks odor pretty well. Other reviews say the smell is nauseating when you open the pail to throw in toddler diapers

but I am planning on using disposable diaper bags for number 2's if it is an issue in the future. I don't expect it to eliminate poopy odor inside the pail. So far

so good!
