Oh baby, do we ever love naptime!

In their early months, if babies aren’t eating, they’re sleeping! While it’s great for parents to get a well-earned break or even get some much-needed shuteye themselves (imagine that), parents should still be keeping a close eye on babe in the early months.

That’s why Skip Hop came up with the Cozy-Up 2-in-1 Bedside Sleeper & Bassinet, a hybrid sleeper that keeps your baby comfortable and safe at the same time!

The flexible Cozy-Up can be used as a bedside sleeper and a stand-alone bassinet — lending exhausted parents a hand at any hour of the day.

But before we get into why this hybrid sleeper is so great, let's differentiate between its two modes and why combining them is such a blessing for new parents.

Bedside Sleeper vs. Bassinet

A bedside sleeper (sometimes called a co-sleeper) is a small crib that attaches to the side of your bed, allowing babies to sleep close by. It’s designed with a door that can be lowered, giving parents easy access during the night. Mom or dad can then easily soothe or feed their newborn without having to get out of bed. For exhausted parents, and moms that have had C-sections, using a bedside sleeper can be a lifesaver!

A bassinet is a small bed or cradle for a newborn. It provides the ideal sleeping environment for babies — flat, comfortable, and above all, safe! A bassinet is also good for transitioning babies to their own space, reduces the risk of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome), and (in this case) is portable for moving around the house.

Both a bedside sleeper and bassinet are to be used for the first 3 to 5 months of a child’s life until they graduate to a full-size crib.

You’ll know when it’s time to move baby to their crib when:

1. They surpassed the weight limit of their bassinet
2. Your baby is rolling over.
3. If your baby looks cramped in their bassinet
4. Your baby is sitting up

Bedside Sleeper Mode

Cozy-Up Specs:
  • Supports up to 20 lbs.
  • Dimensions: 33.9" L x 25.2" W x 25.7 to 32.7" H (8-position height adjust)
  • Recommended Age: 0 to 5 months
  • Weight: 24 lbs

When using the Cozy-Up as a bedside sleeper, you’ll attach it to your bed. The reason for this is that you want the sleeper flush against the bed to eliminate any gaps where your child could potentially fall through. The bedside sleeper should only be used with frame-aligned beds (beds where the frame, box spring, and mattress all line up). You should not use the Cozy-Up as a bedside sleeper if you have an extended bed frame (as this will create a gap).

To attach it, Skip Hop uses a strap and buckle system that goes over the bed frame or the bed frame and box spring. You’ll then tighten the straps to cinch up and secure the Cozy-Up to the bed. Of note, you’ll need a minimum of 4 inches of clearance between the frame and the floor so that the Cozy-Up’s wheels can slide under the bed.

Additionally, parents can height adjust it to fit any bed perfectly, and a small door unlocks to reach your little one when they need you.

Bassinet Mode

When using the Cozy-Up in bassinet mode, you get the flexibility of taking it anywhere in the house. It’s light enough at only 24 lbs. that most people can carry it up and down stairs. If you are moving it to a different location on the same floor, the bassinet has swivel wheels that allow you to glide it easily on both carpet and hardwood flooring — and its dimensions allow you to fit it through standard door frames around the home. The wheels also lock to keep the bassinet in place, so you don’t have to worry about it rolling away on you!

5 Reasons Why We Love It

We think the Cozy-Up is the perfect place for your little one to rest their cute little noodle.

Here are our top 5 reasons we love this bassinet:

1. Nap Anywhere:
With 4 pivoting wheels, you can bring it to any room in your house at any time! This is a huge deal for parents that want to get things done while keeping an eye on their dozing newborn.

2. It's Stylish:
With a blend of beechwood and muted colours, the Cozy-Up has a stylish minimalist look to fit into any home decor.

3. Mesh Everywhere:
It’s surrounded by 360° mesh walls for excellent ventilation and visibility throughout.

4. It Fits:
In bedside sleeper mode, it fits perfectly to the frame-aligned beds, and in bassinet mode, it fits through any door frame to be used in any room of your home.

5. Easy to Keep Clean:
The Cozy-Up comes with a waterproof mattress cover and a machine-washable cotton sheet, so your baby can rest in a clean environment, even in the case of diaper accidents or spills.

Sleep Tight With This Hybrid Baby Bed
