Silver Cross Coast | Product Review

The Coast is clear...

Introducing the Silver Cross Coast!
If you are currently researching strollers and looking for a laundry list of fabulous features then we’ve got a feeling that you are really going to love the Silver Cross Coast for its versatility, luxurious details, and included extras. So, take a break from all of your laundry that is piling up and cozy in to read all  about this versatile stroller.

We’ve already spilled the beans on the Coast’s siblings; the compact Silver Cross Jet and the ultimate in luxury, the Silver Cross Wave, so by the end of this article we are confident that you will know which SC stroller is the best fit for your family.

We know that you expect more from a stroller these days and Silver Cross recognizes that fashion, function, and luxury are all important factors to the millennial mom.
Here’s what you need to know about the Coast.

Versatility + Configurations

The Coast is the “middle child” in the Silver Cross line-up and can hold up to T H R E E children.

With other brands, the “middle child” is equipped with a lot of great features but doesn't often expand to accommodate your brood or include a bassinet like its next-level-up counterpart. This is one of the features that make the Coast so great! It allows you a smaller, more compact frame but with all the bells and whistles like converting to an expandable tandem double stroller in the future.

We know what you are thinking, and the answer is, YES! The Coast can convert into a travel system by simply clicking your infant car seat on top of the frame. Silver Cross Strollers are compatible with Nuna Pipa, Nuna Pipa Lite, Clek Liing, Maxi Cosi Mico 30, Maxi Cosi Mico Max 30 car seats –click it on with a pair of adaptors [sold separately] and you are all set to stroll.

The Coast has 27 different configurations or modes that can be created with the addition of accessories sold separately [the Tandem Seat is required to make it a double stroller.] The good news is that 6 of those 27 configurations can be created straight out of the box since the Coast includes a bassinet and toddler seat. Please note though that the bassinet and the toddler seat share the same canopy, so you cannot use both with a canopy at the same time. The second canopy is not sold separately, so you must purchase a Tandem Seat to use as a complete double stroller equipped with TWO canopies.

So, let's dig in on the seat and included bassinet.

Included Bassinet and Toddler Seat

Bassinet

Stroller Weight (with bassinet): 29lbs
*Use the bassinet up to 19 lbs.

The included Coast bassinet is suitable for children from 0-6 months old* and is approved for overnight sleep—a value add feature that we absolutely love! As you know, babies run hot #sweatybaby and their sensitive skin needs to be protected from the sun so the bassinet is a great option for baby in the early days. You will love getting out for some Vitamin D with ease knowing that your little one can snooze comfortably beneath the UPF 50+ hood and pop-out sun visor while you stroll. It also boasts x3 points of ventilation in the hood for airflow to help regulate your little one's temperature when lounging or sleeping inside. The canopy on the bassinet even has a viewing window so that you can sneak a peek on your little to see if your plan to lull them to sleep on your walk worked. We love that the peekaboo window is magnetic vs. velcro so there is no chance you will wake babe with a tearing noise if you decide to look in. The bassinet is very cozy and has a natural bamboo liner and mattress, once you begin using it you will wonder how moms ever lived without one!

Side note: You may also want to purchase a bassinet stand [sold separately] to allow baby to sleep next to your bed at nighttime in those first few months.

Most bassinets are only used for a few months but one of the reasons the canopy on the Coast is fully loaded with so many features is because it is the exact same one you will use on your toddler seat. When the time comes just remove the canopy from the bassinet and install it on your toddler seat for years of sun protection.
Speaking of the toddler seat...

Toddler Seat

Stroller Weight (with toddler seat): 27.8lbs

The Coast has a one-handed multi recline, adjustable calf support, 5-point puzzle piece harness, and can be used parent facing or forward facing—the choice is yours.

Let’s crunch some numbers on its weight capacity.
When looking for a stroller it is sometimes difficult to put certain features into perspective—like how much will your child weigh at 3, 5, or 8 years old? The good news here is that the toddler seat on the Coast can hold up to 55 lbs. To put that into perspective for you, that's 5lbs. more than the UPPAbaby CRUZ V2 and 10lbs. more than Baby Jogger’s City Select stroller.

The Coast even comes complete with a reversible seat liner which is a nice surprise for parents because it’s easy to clean, and passengers because it’s extra padded!

As noted above, once you are ready to use the toddler seat you can simply remove the canopy from the bassinet and connect it to your toddler seat for use.

The Tandem Seat has a weight capacity of 45lbs, which means that this stroller can be pushed smoothly while toting up to 100lbs of children & 33lbs of groceries, toys, diapers or whatever you store in the large storage basket!

Silver Cross Coast Stroller Details Highlighted

Wheels + Frame

We know this stroller is luxurious—but you can’t put lipstick on a pig, so the big question is how does this stroller perform?

*spoiler alert* you are going to like the answer to this question!

Silver Cross refers to the tires on the Coast as “rugged, puncture-free, and never-wear" aka they are great quality that will last. With a 55lb weight limit on the seat it’s important that the Coast can handle well, and it does with its four-way suspension and lockable swivel front wheels that allow you to take on any terrain with ease.

The magnesium and aluminum alloy frame on the Coast is durable yet lightweight and operates using a flip-flop friendly braking system. Caregivers of all heights will be “wowed” by the smooth easy-action fold and four handlebar positions – the highest height is shockingly tall.

Additional features that we love:

  • Rain cover included

  • Cup holder included

  • Insect net included

  • Extra-large basket that can hold up to 33 lbs

The Coast is available in x3 different colourways; Flint, Tundra, and Limestone so head to your closest Snuggle Bugz store to check out the swatches and touch and feel this stroller in person.

What do you think of the Coast?

If you are in the research stage and looking for a comparison, the Coast is just 1.7” less in width and just .8 LBs heavier than something like the CRUZ V2 from UPPAbaby—but don’t forget that the Coast can expand to a double stroller with the addition of a second seat when the time comes to grow your family.

Happy Shopping!
