Bugaboo Fox vs. Lynx
How Does the Bugaboo Fox Compare to the Bugaboo Lynx?
They’re both named after some of the most stealth creatures,
is there a “stealthier”? The Bugaboo Lynx is brand new and available to order
online now. Both the Lynx and the Fox are luxury strollers and just by looking
at the two, you may not even be able to tell the difference… Then you see the
price points and realize that the Fox starts at $1449 CAD and the Lynx starts
at $1079 CAD. So, why?
The biggest difference between the two strollers is that the Fox Complete comes with the bassinet fabric, whereas the Lynx does not. The Lynx pram fabric must be purchased separately and starts at $270, which is where the price gap comes in.
If your child is over 6 months when you’re purchasing this stroller then that may not be a big deal to you, but prior to 6 months the bassinet is recommended as it allows infants to lay flat for extended periods of time – this keeps their airways more open than being in their infant car seat.
It is also important to note that although the Bugaboo Fox pram is approved for overnight sleeping in the United States, it is NOT in
Canada, and neither is the Lynx pram.
The Fox also features all-wheel suspension which provides the smoothest ride over uneven terrain [think gravel roads, beaches, or snow-filled sidewalks], whereas the Lynx offers only front-wheel suspension. Don’t get us wrong though – the Lynx still has GREAT manoeuvrability and allows for a smooth one-handed push while weaving through tight spaces like a pro. The wheel sizes on the Lynx are slightly smaller than those on the Fox with the Lynx sporting 7” tires in the front and 11.4” in the rear. The Fox features 8.5” front wheels and 12” rear wheels. The wheels are puncture-proof on both strollers, so no matter what size you go with, you won’t be running into a flat!
Although you’ll see everywhere that the Lynx weighs 20.7 lbs, this weight does not include the fabrics, the canopy or the basket. What weight matters is the one that you’ll be lifting in and out of the trunk of your car and that is 23.9 lbs. The weight of the Fox that you’ll find online everywhere is 21.8 lbs, however with the fabrics, canopy and basket it’s just under 28 lbs. You’re looking at about a 4 lbs difference between the 2 strollers when they’re being used with their toddler seats.
The fabrics that come in the box with each stroller are similar, but the Fox has a couple more fabric options. Both strollers are available with a black frame [slightly higher price point] or an aluminum frame.
The canopy that comes in-box with the Lynx has a ventilated mesh peekaboo panel up top that the Fox does not, but if you’re looking for a ventilated canopy you can always purchase the Breezy canopy separately.
At this time, the Lynx does not have multiple coloured seat fabrics or wheel caps that you can purchase separately to switch it up like the Fox offers. For now, you'll have to choose a colour and stick with it.
TRAVEL SYSTEM COMPATIBILITY
Both strollers are compatible with infant car seats, but the adapters are sold separately [the Bugaboo Turtle is NOT available for sale in Canada].
A popular infant car seat choice for pairing with Bugaboo strollers is the Clek Liing – which fits on the same adapter as Maxi-Cosi, Nuna & Cybex infant car seats. Check out the full Clek Liing review here if you’re looking for a travel system!
What other features do both strollers have? Lots!
Both the Bugaboo Fox and the Bugaboo Lynx are equipped with:
- A reclining toddler seat that can face the world or parent face and hold a child up to 50 lbs
- A large under seat storage basket with a weight capacity of 22 lbs
- The ability to fold with the seat on in either direction and self-stand
- A 5-point, no re-thread harness [this saves a ton of time and frustration when baby grows a couple inches “overnight”;)]
- An extendable handlebar for parents of any height
- The ability to attach a Bugaboo Comfort Wheeled Board without the need for adapters
All in all, if you’re looking for a stroller that will be used on bumpy terrain & you like to switch the colours up by the season then the Fox might be the best fit for you. If you’re spending most of your time on city sidewalks or in the mall, then the Lynx is definitely an option you'll want to consider!
Both strollers are available to test out at all Snuggle Bugz locations. Head on in to practice lifting it in and out of your trunk or detaching and re-attaching that infant seat!
