The Foonf is Clek’s first convertible car seat, but it shares many features with the other Clek seats. The light but strong magnesium frame and the easy-to-install rigid LATCH system (forward-facing) are classic Clek. For rear-facing installation, the Foonf will use flexible LATCH connectors and a snap-in anti-rebound bar. Both rear- and forward-facing installation have built-in lockoffs, and a patented energy absorption system is designed to slow down the seat in a crash.

The REACT™ Safety System integrated into every Foonf child seat protects your child much like the crumple zones in the cars we drive — one of the most effective innovations in automotive safety.

REACT stands for 'RAPID ENERGY ABSORBING CRUMPLE TECHNOLOGY'

In a collision, the vehicle comes to an abrupt stop, but the child continues to move at the same speed. The less time that it takes for the child to come to a complete stop, the higher the forces exerted on the child. The REACT Safety System allows that sudden change in momentum to happen over a longer period of time through a series of controlled events. Foonf is designed to ride down the collision crumpling the aluminum honeycomb and absorbing energy from the collision resulting in less force transferred to the child.

ALL CAR SEATS ARE FINAL SALE

  • Anti-Rebound Bar In rear-facing mode, Foonf’s anti-rebound bar improves stability by limiting rotation of the child seat, helping protect your child’s head from impact in the case of a collision

  • Structural Headrest with Deep Side Wings Energy-absorbing foam-lined headrest connected to frame using steel rods provides maximum head protection in a side-impact collision.

  • Energy-Absorbing Foam Layers Foam layers on both the inside and outside of the frame protect your child by absorbing energy in a side-impact collision, resulting in less force directly upon your child

  • Rigid Sub-Structure Foonf is reinforced by a steel and magnesium sub-structure

  • Integrated Magnets Keeps harnesses open to make taking your child in and out easier.

  • Unique design improves rear-facing installation in smaller vehicles by taking up less fore-aft space.

  • Foonf boasts a narrow width — under 17 inches at its widest point and 13 inches at the base — making 3-across seating possible

  • Foonf includes an easy-to-engage, smooth recline function, making each ride more comfortable.

  • Permanent protection against stains, moisture and bacteria. The only thing this fabric doesn't resist is easy cleaning. Fabrics are removable too. **Drift and phantom are the only Foonf editions that are NOT tailored with Crypton® Super Fabrics. Drift and phantom are sporty edition constructed of automotive, anti-bacterial fabric without a moisture barrier.

These new 2014 models have:
  • longer crotch strap
  • steel structure is now black for a sleeker look
  • new installation for anti rebound bar making it much easier

    Well made car sear

This is a very well made car sear. It sits quite high in the car but our son enjoys looking out the window so anything that keeps him happier longer I like. The fabric wipes clean with all the messes so far and we've had lots of complements on it in our car.

    Make the Investment Now!!

I put my 9 month old into the Clek Foonf and was worried becuase it didnt seem to have as much padding as her infant car seat, the first car trip not only did she sleep well, but when she was awake she was so quiet because she could see out the window!!

It looks amazing in the car, has the best safety reviews, and water repellent fabrics, what more do you need. It also gave me the most room out of any of the safest car seats (Ie. Diono) - I have a small SUV and it fits behind the passenger seat with enough room for me to still sit in it!

    Love this seat!

Incredibly expensive but probably worth every penny (hope I never have to find out).
Easy to install, easy to clean, easy to travel with when you use the Clek Weelee bag.
We love this seat so much we bought one for my car and one for my husband's car. Our son loves sitting up so high and seeing out the windows of the car. It has great weight and height capacity to keep littles rear facing as long as possible. I love how narrow it is so I can fit other people in the back seat and eventually fit other babies in the car too!

    Great Product

I love this seat! Too pricey but when it comes to the safety of your child that all pays off in the end!
My baby who is 9 months falls asleep in it right away.
Only cons is that I have to kind of bend his head to put him in the seat b/c it's so high up and I have a sedan, the belt crotch buckle is way too short it's kind of weird but I guess thats how Clek wants it b/c the manual explicitly states it has to be on the shorter option when the seat is used in the rear. oh and it's super heavy! but it's solid like a rock!
Other than that note the positives...the installation was a breeze!! I wanted the chair for so long I had no problem reading and learning about the seat from the manual before putting it in the car. I love that it is high up so baby is entertained by all the cars and scenery outside. and its super solid and super safe!

    Excellent seat

This seat is great - it was either this one or the diono but we liked the look of this one better. We have an SUV so size wasn't an issue and since it stays in the seat I don't care that it's heavy. It fits snug, it looks comfy, it's easy to clean and the instructions are nice and clear. It's a tall seat and will last a very long time.

A couple cons but not really a deal breaker: The belly bad is annoying since it comes off so you constantly have to find a place for it - I tuck it into the rebound bar but there have been times it's fallen out into a big puddle.

When tightening the straps I always have to go to the back and pull and fiddle since the straps get stuck in a funny position in the back which jeopardizes the safety of the fit. Not a big deal it's just a habit that I do now.

It does sit up pretty high in the car so I wouldn't recommend this for a small car. When I pull my son out I always have to watch that I don't bonk his head on the car door! But again, none of these things are really a dealbreaker for me. I would recommend this seat to everyone.

    Great car seat!

Easy installation when watching the clek installation video on you tube. The hard part was to get the bad through the seat. But everything else was a easy set up.
Daughter loves looking out the window because the seat sits up high.
The look and design looks great! Like other post said, don't like the idea how I can see the form on the seat. Everywhere else is nice and clean finished except that part.

    extremely satisfied

I absolutely love this car seat. It's very easy to install! Although a little heavy to carry, I find it makes it more secure on install. It's very stylish. The car seat does sit higher up than most. I'm not sure I would be able to use this to the weight limit because of the hight of the seat itself but I believe for safety, structure, and kknowing my child is safe its well worth the money!

    Solid carseat that baby enjoys

My husband built and installed the seat quickly and easily (he's quite handy, mind you). My son loves it. Was quite miserable in his bucket so we switched him once he met the weight requirement and could sit independently. The Foonf is built like a tank which I find very reassuring, and as I don't plan on moving it in and out of our car, I really don't care that it's heavy. After a few months of use, the only things that I do not love about the seat are cosmetic. I find the shoulder strap pads too small and also don't love that I can see the foam padding where the crotch buckle comes out. Otherwise it's love :)

    Excellent seat

We've had the Foonf for over 6 months now. We absolutely love it. We love that our very tall son will probably be able to rear face until age 4 in this seat which is now recommended. Its also great that it sits so high in the vehicle because he can see out the window which keeps him happy. He also falls asleep easily in this seat. I love the easy care fabric! He has vomited once in this seat and it wiped out cleanly (though we stopped and cleaned it immediately) and we went over it with some baby wipes and the smell was totally gone! For the other reviewer who complained about not being able to remove the fabric, you really shouldn't need to, the way its designed.

We also love the ease of install. The instructions are well written and easy to follow. We have put this seat in 5 different vehicles and installation with LATCH was a breeze! The seat is heavy so you don't want to carry it far, but moving it from vehicle to vehicle is not impeded by this.

Also someone mentioned the strap covers weren't big enough, but I would caution against removing and replacing with other ones- it could affect the performance of the seat in the event of a crash, especially if it affects how tight you are able to get the straps, and may not be approved by the manufacturer. People, please find out more about car seat safety before advising other parents!

All in all, this is a great seat with excellent safety features and is very easy to use.

I expected a few things more

Having had a Britax Advocate and Boulevard - I went to this car seat because I wanted the slim design to be able to utilize the pass through in our backseat; two car seats don't allow you to fold either seat down and the narrow design of the Clek would allow me to at least use the middle 'pass through' option.

Well. I just installed the 2014 model.
    The pros:
Looks good and 'clean' over the britax ones which look clunky

Nice color selection and overall appearance, super narrow

Installation is super quick and easy compared to the Britax in that threading the seatbelt through the back is easy... Just be sure to read instructions first to be sure you understand how the rigid latch system works

    Cons
Entire cloth/upholstery removal is 'not recommended' - are you kidding me? These are kids seats! Only the bottom part comes off easily.

The magnet to hold the belts out are no longer there for 2014

My kid picked at the warning label and tore a piece of it off... I admittedly removed the rest. There are HOLES in the fabric and glue from factory to guide placement of the label.

Don't even dream of installing this without reading the instructions

There is a sticker in every single surface of the seat. Arrows, arrows, stickers all over which mar the appearance that was one of the few pros to this seat

The crotch strap is longer but that circle padding thing is not attached which means it will inevitably get lost or thrown out in frustration

Threading the belts through for size... which requires removal if the seat to adjust. Why can't Clek figure out something as clean looking as Britax's system which goes away from the inexpensive carseat's method of raising the straps?

It's extremely tall so can obliterate vision in smaller cars

Rear facing, it's atrociously long so try it in your car before you plan to use rear facing to ensure it fits!

It is ridiculously heavy. Like, really heavy.

Does not have the strap support like Britax to absorb forces from a crash on the front of the straps.

Overall - I'm torn. I'm huge on safety and appearances but this seat sorely lacks user comforts for the price. After tax tugs seat is pretty much $500. These 'con' issues should really be addressed for this price.

Love the look of this seat and the fact that it is made in Canada. My little guy enjoys sitting so high up he stares out the window instead of fussing during long car rides. It is very pricey but my little ones safety and comfort is worth the price... especially when you get it on sale.

We just installed this seat for my 13 month old. I love the look and that's it's made in Canada. It is super sturdy and fits in my Corolla well. I really have no complaints. Except the shoulder strap covers are tiny. I had to remove them and get a longer pair so the straps don't cut into my child's skin.

Other than that. Great Canadian product.

    Great car seat!

Have been using thebcar seat for 2 months now. It was very easy to install rear facing and looks to be even easier to install forward facing when the time comes. My son is almost a year and still has a lot of leg room. I bought this seat for the extended rear facing weight and the seat has not disappointed.

Love our Foonf and so does my little one. Yes it weighs a great deal but the bag on wheels helps if you have to move it around. But, it is made out of sturdy materials and the installation was a breeze for forward facing. Wow. If I had this as my first car seat then I would have kept my son rear-facing for much longer.
    Would highly recommend. it.

Love this, but make sure it fits

I love the foonf - other than confusing the heck out of the installers when we first bought it, we've had no problems. It has great safety ratings, looks great, etc. HOWEVER, it is really high, so getting the baby in (we have a compact car) is a bit of a challenge, but we're now used to it. Take the time to 'try' it in your car first to make sure it fits well.

    Loving our Foonf

Our little girl out grew her infant car seat so fast so we switched to the Foonf at 6 months. It is a great seat and she loves it. We've had some spills and "accidents" on the seat and the fabric is great cause it rubs right off!! It does sit a little high in the car so if you are a short driver like me, the blind side is a little tough to see. Also the rebound bar rattles from time to time. Overall great seat and we all love it.

We had purchased the peg perego for the infant car seat given that it was made in Italy. The Foonf has really exceeded our expectations, even the cardboard it was shipped in was excellent quality! It is more narrow so it helps if you have a smaller car. It elevates our daughter so she can see out the window a lot more. We're very happy we got this carseat and probably wouldn't go back to peg.

Love this seat - No regrets

We bought this seat in august, and bought another a month later for our other vehicle as we love it. It took about a week of getting used to for both us and out ten month old, but by the end of the week we all loved it. The seat is so solid, I feel like no matter what happened this seat would be indestructible. It is nice looking, it doesn't budge an inch, and my daughter is happy and comfy in it. I was worried she wouldn't sleep well in it on the road (as we travel often), but we have had no issues there. The install took a while to figure out, but once we had it, it was a breeze. Second seat took us only about ten minutes to assemble and install in the other car.
We had been contemplating on this versus the diono, and I am so happy we went with this seat. It fits beautifully in both my mazda cx9 and my husbands buick regal. The diono was way too long rear facing, and for whatever reason, our daughter was not a fan.
I saw one review about difficulties getting the baby out, but my only thought is that they must be missing the release lever (it is kind of hidden), as getting her out is no issue at all.
The only thing i don't love is that the crotch strap is rather short. It is not a deal breaker, but I will be ordering a new one when they release them (which apparently they plan to do).

Great carseat but a little pricey

We love this carseat. It wasn't too hard to install but it was quite heavy. We are currently having it backward facing so it is a little bulky as in that the front seat has to be put forward to accommodate the carseat. The headrest had to be taken out. We love how sturdy the carseat is and it's also very comfortable for the baby. She loves to sleep in it, I also love that the carseat is made in Canada. It is a bit pricey but definetly worth it!

This car seat is super solid and super easy to install (minus the horrible instruction book that had toy jumping all over). I have it RF with my 16month old and in my medium size car its not the easiest to put him in and out of because it sits up so high not leaving too much room to squeeze him in, but once he is in there he loves being able to see out. My other issue with it being so high is it makes my blind spot super hard to check! Like one of the other reviewers i hear a weird rattle when it is unoccupied. With the complaints I have I still love it because it is so solid and safe and my son is happy in it so I can hopefully keep him RF for 2 years+ , the reason I bought it!

    I like it- husband doesn't

I love our foonf- we got it during an awesome sale at snuggle bugz :) I was concerned the crotch strap would cause the buckle to dig into my child's thighs but he doesn't seem to mind and I tested my 5yo in it and she said it was super comfortable to her. I had no problem installing it in both our cars and I look forward to the ease of installing it ff with the rigid latch!
My complaint on it though is that the straps are difficult to tighten.
My husband dislikes the seat mainly because he can't tighten the straps and he finds the wings problematic to getting the baby in the seat rear facing. So I'd like to buy a second for his car but he finds it annoying so we will have to choose another.

    Comfortable Seat

We are using this Rear Facing for a 3 year old. He's very comfortable in it. I like that he doesn't sweat in the fabric. We have the black, because it was on sale, although the colours are much prettier! The head wings are adjustable, and positioned right at the side of the head. It has a few recline positions both in Rear facing, and forward facing mode. It's the narrowest car seat out there - together with the Diono Radian. It allows me to have 3 car seats in the 3rd row of a Dodge Caravan '10. Once installed it does not move. It's really rock solid. To a previous reviewer: Once you figure out how to adjust the straps it isn't hard. Lower the seat back to learn exactly where the clip is positioned - it's a little deeper inside than where most seats have it.

I got the Foonf dragonfly recently for my 11 month old, as he hated his Britax car seat.

    Foonf disappointment

I want to share my Foonf disappointment. We just picked ours up and have an issue with it, which according to the rude people at Clek, is normal.

As an aside, we preordered our Foonf and waited for nearly 6 months. Clek barely apologized for that. When we finally received seat – we set it up on our dining room floor. Clicked in the headrest (comes separate in the box) and discovered that it was “moving” – specifically on one side. It just wasn’t firm in place – as one would expect. Think of the headrest in your car; steel posts go into plastic circles in the upholstery; the circle(s) has/ have a little button that you need to press to adjust the height. Foonf is the same. On the side with the button – it locked in firm, while on the other side (circle/ no button) there is about .5 to 1 cm movement when you pull on it. It just didn’t seem right to us.

We looked through the manual to see if there are any tips/ troubleshooting notes. Nothing helpful. We then called Clek the following morning. The customer service was sub par. The rep was rude, short, and condescending. She explained that the headrest had a "master and slave" mechanism (her exact words) - where only the master (the one side) locks in - and the slave side is only guided and held in place by the master. Therefore - movement is normal. The Clek rep said "it's not going to go anywhere" and "it was tested". The slave side has notches - but they're not as deep as on the master side - and don't click in.

Interesting - and disappointing at the same time. I expected more. I'm disappointed; with the service and with the seat; with the lack of assurance… And yes – it bothers me that the post is not firmly in. To me, it makes it seem less safe.

    Like it!!

I really, really, really like the Foonf. It feels so much more safe and secure than our other run of the mill plastic car seat. My 9mth old daughter loves that it sits higher up than other car seats- its gives her a great view outside and keeps her occupied. It it is the best rear-facing fit I could find for my 07 VW Rabbit (small car).
The anti-rebound bar was hard to install until I realized that Clek has a few online instillation videos on their website. Easy peasy!
The only downside is that the manual doesn't give page numbers for sections it refers to. Also, it would be nice if the magnets that hold the seatbelt out of the way were a bit larger. Other than that, I am super happy with my purchase.

    Great but prefers Diono

I waited a long time for that seat, clek had weeks of delays from date I pre-ordered. While I waited, I also got the Diono GXT which is 150$ cheaper than the Foonf. I like this seat more as per value and comfort. My son tried both seats and also likes the Diono better since its more padded. The anti-rebound bar was a NIGHTMARE to install. Overall, the Foonf looks great and is heavy and sturdy. However, I find there are better seats out there that are cheaper and more comfortable.

Overall the Foonf is a great seat. It's sturdy and very stylish with deep side supports. My little princess looks very safe in her seat in RF mode and that's ultimately why I bought one. There are a few complaints that I have with the seat. For one its very tall which makes it difficult to check your passenger-side blind spot in RF mode. My second complaint is that it's not that easy to buckle up my daughter compared to an infant carrier. Third is a weird rattling noise coming from the seat when going over rough roads. I've only heard it when the seat is unoccupied. I suspect it's the metal harness connector between the seat and base. As far as value goes it doesn't come with any accessories just a great look.

    Foonf Drift

So glad I stuck it out and waited for this car seat to become available. Its a beautiful car seat, easy to install, solid as a rock, and good looking. Sits nice and high in rear position so my little guy can see out the window. I got the colour Drift which I thought would be charcoal and black, but its actually black on black which is even better. Its like the Range Rover of car seats. Love it.

A truly wonderful seat, well worth the wait. The instructions were terrible, and a misprint regarding weight limits right on the seat lead to a squabble with my husband, but once installed, it is a dream and it is beautiful and I love it.
Will be purchasing a second in a few months...
