The Foonf is Clek’s first convertible car seat, but it shares many features with the other Clek seats. The light but strong magnesium frame and the easy-to-install rigid LATCH system (forward-facing) are classic Clek. For rear-facing installation, the Foonf will use flexible LATCH connectors and a snap-in anti-rebound bar. Both rear- and forward-facing installation have built-in lockoffs, and a patented energy absorption system is designed to slow down the seat in a crash.

Product Features
  • Anti-Rebound Bar In rear-facing mode, Foonf’s anti-rebound bar improves stability by limiting rotation of the child seat, helping protect your child’s head from impact in the case of a collision

  • Structural Headrest with Deep Side Wings Energy-absorbing foam-lined headrest connected to frame using steel rods provides maximum head protection in a side-impact collision.

  • Energy-Absorbing Foam Layers Foam layers on both the inside and outside of the frame protect your child by absorbing energy in a side-impact collision, resulting in less force directly upon your child

  • Rigid Sub-Structure Foonf is reinforced by a steel and magnesium sub-structure

  • Integrated Magnets Keeps harnesses open to make taking your child in and out easier.

  • Unique design improves rear-facing installation in smaller vehicles by taking up less fore-aft space.

  • Foonf boasts a narrow width — under 17 inches at its widest point and 13 inches at the base — making 3-across seating possible

  • Foonf includes an easy-to-engage, smooth recline function, making each ride more comfortable.

  • Permanent protection against stains, moisture and bacteria. The only thing this fabric doesn't resist is easy cleaning. Fabrics are removable too. **Drift and phantom are the only Foonf editions that are NOT tailored with Crypton® Super Fabrics. Drift and phantom are sporty edition constructed of automotive, anti-bacterial fabric without a moisture barrier.

5 star seat Review by Ian S

I got the Foonf dragonfly recently for my 11 month old, as he hated his Britax car seat.

He loves this seat and enjoys the room it has. Even with rear facing, it is much more comfortable, spacious than the Britax.

The seat is water repellent as it passed the test on the first day :). We received the seat within 5 working days which was great. It looks complicated but it is super easy to put together. Not much assembly required anyways. (Posted on 5/29/13)

Foonf disappointment Review by Marie

I want to share my Foonf disappointment. We just picked ours up and have an issue with it, which according to the rude people at Clek, is normal.

As an aside, we preordered our Foonf and waited for nearly 6 months. Clek barely apologized for that. When we finally received seat – we set it up on our dining room floor. Clicked in the headrest (comes separate in the box) and discovered that it was “moving” – specifically on one side. It just wasn’t firm in place – as one would expect. Think of the headrest in your car; steel posts go into plastic circles in the upholstery; the circle(s) has/ have a little button that you need to press to adjust the height. Foonf is the same. On the side with the button – it locked in firm, while on the other side (circle/ no button) there is about .5 to 1 cm movement when you pull on it. It just didn’t seem right to us.

We looked through the manual to see if there are any tips/ troubleshooting notes. Nothing helpful. We then called Clek the following morning. The customer service was sub par. The rep was rude, short, and condescending. She explained that the headrest had a "master and slave" mechanism (her exact words) - where only the master (the one side) locks in - and the slave side is only guided and held in place by the master. Therefore - movement is normal. The Clek rep said "it's not going to go anywhere" and "it was tested". The slave side has notches - but they're not as deep as on the master side - and don't click in.

Interesting - and disappointing at the same time. I expected more. I'm disappointed; with the service and with the seat; with the lack of assurance… And yes – it bothers me that the post is not firmly in. To me, it makes it seem less safe.

Like it!! Review by Sunfish

I really, really, really like the Foonf. It feels so much more safe and secure than our other run of the mill plastic car seat. My 9mth old daughter loves that it sits higher up than other car seats- its gives her a great view outside and keeps her occupied. It it is the best rear-facing fit I could find for my 07 VW Rabbit (small car).
The anti-rebound bar was hard to install until I realized that Clek has a few online instillation videos on their website. Easy peasy!
The only downside is that the manual doesn't give page numbers for sections it refers to. Also, it would be nice if the magnets that hold the seatbelt out of the way were a bit larger. Other than that, I am super happy with my purchase. (Posted on 2/15/13)
Great but prefers Diono Review by Marie

I waited a long time for that seat, clek had weeks of delays from date I pre-ordered. While I waited, I also got the Diono GXT which is 150$ cheaper than the Foonf. I like this seat more as per value and comfort. My son tried both seats and also likes the Diono better since its more padded. The anti-rebound bar was a NIGHTMARE to install. Overall, the Foonf looks great and is heavy and sturdy. However, I find there are better seats out there that are cheaper and more comfortable. (Posted on 2/8/13)
Foonf Dragonfly Review by Over Protective Dad

Overall the Foonf is a great seat. It's sturdy and very stylish with deep side supports. My little princess looks very safe in her seat in RF mode and that's ultimately why I bought one. There are a few complaints that I have with the seat. For one its very tall which makes it difficult to check your passenger-side blind spot in RF mode. My second complaint is that it's not that easy to buckle up my daughter compared to an infant carrier. Third is a weird rattling noise coming from the seat when going over rough roads. I've only heard it when the seat is unoccupied. I suspect it's the metal harness connector between the seat and base. As far as value goes it doesn't come with any accessories just a great look. So glad I stuck it out and waited for this car seat to become available. Its a beautiful car seat, easy to install, solid as a rock, and good looking. Sits nice and high in rear position so my little guy can see out the window. I got the colour Drift which I thought would be charcoal and black, but its actually black on black which is even better. Its like the Range Rover of car seats. Love it. (Posted on 1/10/13)

A truly wonderful seat, well worth the wait. The instructions were terrible, and a misprint regarding weight limits right on the seat lead to a squabble with my husband, but once installed, it is a dream and it is beautiful and I love it.
Will be purchasing a second in a few months... (Posted on 1/1/13)
