Breastfeeding is always best for your baby, but sometimes it is not possible to breastfeed naturally. Calma is an alternative to breastfeeding for mothers wishing to feed their babies with breastmilk.

Enables babies to maintain their natural feeding behaviour learned on the breast.
Babies can drink, breathe and pause regularly.
Supports an easy transition from the breast to the teat and back.
One size is sufficient for the entire breastfeeding period, just as in nature.
The unique feeding solution for your baby - we recommend introducing a teat when breastfeeding is established

Best bottles for supplementing breastfeeding.
This is the only bottle I felt comfortable using while also breastfeeding. My son had to work at it, the milk doesn't just drop out of the nipple the way the Dr Browns bottles. I credit this style for helping me establish a great breastfeeding relationship with my son while still having to bottle feed.

Expensive but good starter for breastfeeding babies!
As a first time mom I was nervous about effectively establishing breastfeeding. My son took to this at three weeks well and it in no way hurt his every hour nursing!! Now he refuses any bottle at 5 months old so I wouldn't blame this nipple for it:)

Ok
I used this bottle because I pumped right into it but my daughter didn't like it and also gagged a lot while using it.

Only Bottles We Use!
These are the only bottles we have used, my son has had no issues using these and breastfeeding. I like that he can take a break while eating, and that the bottle doesn't leak since it has to be sucked on to get anything out.

Gassy baby
This was the first bottle we tried since it came with my pump and it was supposed to mimic breastfeeding. However, it resulted in our baby being gassy since there is a long column of air between the bottle and the nipple that the baby has to suck through in order to drink. The shape does not mimic the breast in the least either. Also, it is incredibly expense compared to most other bottles.

Overall a good product
We introduced this bottle to my son when he was around 3 weeks old because of problems latching and this is the closest thing to the breast. He's 4 months old now and still using the bottle. We haven't had any problems with it at all and I like how he can pause when he needs to, and doesn't have problems choking like he did with other bottles/nipples.

My one complaint with the design is that the caps are hard to put on and very fussy. I also wish that the 8oz/250ml bottles came with nipples. I bought a separate nipple and the cap had a better design, but I'm still stuck with the old ones that have a design flaw (imho).

Still, overall, I'm happy with this product. It's expensive but seems to be worth it so far.

The only bottle we've ever used
I am an exclusively breast feeding Mama (well, I was, she's 9 months old now, and eats food) and these are the only nipple/bottles we've ever used! (I only have 1...). She has never rejected it, never had an issue, never had any latch problems after using it. She takes a bottle maybe once a month, but when she does she takes this bottle no problem.
Its kind of neat looking but the valve is way up high in the nipple, and then the milk runs down the open nipple to simulate a let down reflex. It looks like its huge and long, but in reality when a baby is nursing, the nipple stretched far back in their throat passed their hard palate (so your nipple isn't destroyed), so the length of this calma nipple is more realistic and feels more natural to your baby. Its pricey, but like I say, its the only once we've ever bought, so our total bottle/nipple price is $22!

Liking them!
My daughter has been using the Medela Calma Nipple since she was about 3.5 weeks. It was extremely helpful in helping her work on her latch, as she had to work for the milk. I helped with her breast feeding. The bottle nipple does mimic the shape and length of a breast nipple during breast feeding.

She is 7.5 months now and still enjoying using it. The air holes do get blocked and does not allow the milk to come out, so she would suck and get nothing. I use a needle now to ensure that the hole stays free and the flow has been great. The milk does come out of the nipple at times when we shake the formula. I bought one nipple that has a different ring that holds the cap better, however the 4 others I bought take some practice to click the cap on.
I wish that you could buy a nipple with an 8oz bottle, as my daughter grew out of the 5 oz very quickly. I also wish that Medela had a 10+oz bottle. I bought Nuk bottles and the nipples fit well, however the Medela storage caps do not fully seal properly. So the Nuk bottle will leak if not stored straight up (e.g. in your diaper bag).
I had some difficulty with one part of the Calma nipple, and Medela would not replace it and does not have replacement parts to buy for this nipple. So I kept the good parts just in case one of my other nipples breaks down. It is so expensive, I was not impressed that Medela would not be as helpful as other baby product companies. I have had friends that had free stroller replacements, and I just needed one part to make the nipple work.
