In general, you would want this product for a newborn to avoid nipple confusion. The idea,design and constructino of this product are great. I had to supplement while we were working out latching on to an inverted nipple. It helped my baby keep a good latch but the fast was WAY to fast for a newborn. She would chug 1.5- 2 oz in 30 sec or less. She would choke sometimes. Since she was eating so quickly she thought she was still hungry! Had to change to a slow flow nipple w/ Dr Brown bottle.
