Buncha Farmers 5
And just like that, spring has sprung! Spring cleaning can have a truly wonderful effect – and be completely exhausting. It’s like the nesting phase of pregnancy but without all the cooking in pots the size of your torso. Just me? Ok then.
When you’re cleaning/tidying up, you need to make sure your little ones are safe during and after the clean! Find some of our helpful safety tips below!Ladders and Step Stools
I’m not sure what age your kids were when they started climbing. Harrison started doing that before he was walking, as lots of babies do. But an unattended step stool would be like an amusement park for him. Make sure to fold up step stools and place ladders out of sight/reach of your little ones, even if you’re just leaving the room for a second.
Boxes and clutter
You have to make a mess to clean up a mess, right? I know there are those areas in the house that tend to collect clutter, or areas you always seem to put things when you’re cleaning up. Be careful of those things as it could impede your child’s access to a safe up/downstairs route (if you’ve placed things on the side of the stairs for example) or could also just plain be a tripping/safety hazard.
Protect your little one’s lungs! Always make sure you are opening windows where you can and turning on the overhead fans in the house. Careful with that last step if you’re using a spray or aerosol, of course. Close their bedroom doors and open their windows if possible to keep the smell out or air out the room.
There are many cleaners out there that are much friendlier for our little ones (and pets) than the standard products adorned with the skeleton hand or the skull and crossbones. Whether it be for surfaces, toys, bathrooms, laundry, there are products out there better for our environment and better for ourselves than the big bleachy brands you’ve grown up with. Dapple, Laundry Tarts, Buncha Farmers and Aleva Naturals all have great products that will clean without the damage.
Getting your yard ready for spring while your little one explores outside is great, but always make sure your gardening tools are safely tucked away. Keep in mind our little toddlers are also not the most experienced walkers yet. I don’t enjoy stepping on a garden trowel on the best of days and I’m a veteran walker.
Try to keep a handle on allergens by vacuuming regularly, especially the rugs and carpets near the doors.
Do the mopping while the little ones are out of the room, if possible. As I mentioned above, they aren’t the most experienced walkers. When I mop the kitchen, I either put up the two baby gates we have or I do that while Harrison is napping or down for the night.
Above all, just be aware of your surroundings and your kiddos, which I know you do already. Do you have any suggestions for spring cleaning safety tips?
ERGObaby is coming out with two new patterns (bottom left and top middle) of their original carrier as well as three colours of a brand new wrap which is new territory for ERGObaby. The carrier in the bottom right is brand new and made from recycled plastic bottles. Fancy! Ergo is also releasing a new outward facing carrier which is also new territory for them.

The blue one? Hello lovely! Skip Hop has A TON of new things! New fabrics and bedding and a few additions to their zoo line – travel pillow/blankets, stroller handles and snack bags to name a few.
AppleCheeks released a 6-month run of a new limited edition diaper, Steel Me, with the heart-stealingly cute Hayden modeling it for everyone. She was cool with it at first and then was not so cool with it after Ilana had been holding her Lion King-style for a while. Beba Bean has released the CUTEST cardigans and capes – each only come in one size and we are COMPLETELY in love with them!
The Shrunks released a new inflatable nap pad for daycare with a built in pillow that doubles as a pump. I know, my mind was blown too.Rockabye Baby has LP records for 4 of their artists – for those old school parents who have a turntable in their children’s room. They also come with a chip that you put in your computer so you can have the digital music as well.
This isn’t a new product, but it’s one of my favourites and I was excited to meet the Buncha Farmers. If only they knew all of the items in my home that they’ve saved. They got new packaging so I’m allowed to stick this picture in here.
And finally, we ordered some beautiful new bedding. BEAUTIFUL new bedding. Heart. Stay tuned over the next couple of months as our show orders trickle (or flood) in and we share with you brand new-to-us brands!
I can clean up vomit, poopy diapers, cuts on fingers and toes, but what I am not so good with is the nose bleed! Ugh!! It’s not that I can’t handle the sight of blood, in fact the blood aspect doesn’t really bother me at all. It’s the fact that I just can’t figure out how to get control of them, where to pinch, what not to pinch, which direction to hold the head…etc. Which is why, when our son woke up screaming at 2 am the other night from a nose bleed, it was Snuggle Dad’s job to get up and take care of whatever the commotion was about.
Now our son, as cute and wonderful as he is, is a tad dramatic when it comes to blood! The mere sight of blood puts him into panic mode so, needless to say, his newly acquired nose bleed inspired Golden Globe-level theatrics. Snuggle Dad headed to help clean our son up, and have him back into bed for a good sleep for what was left of the night.
Cue the morning sunshine – the Gro Clock showed the sun, the lights were on and the house was ready to get up and going the next morning. I went to help our son get ready for school… entered his room… and DISGUSTING!! His bed looked like a crime scene, and I’m not even joking a little bit! His nose bleed clearly deserved the dramatics from the night before. There was blood all over his pillow, all over his beautiful quilt, as yes he used both items to wipe his nose repeatedly before realizing it was a nose bleed. (I know… ewwww!). His sheets and pajamas were drenched – literally drenched – in blood!
Thanks goodness, thank goodness, thank goodness for the Buncha Farmers laundry stick! I attacked everything with a vengeance…. some water, some laundry stick, rubbed it all together, threw everything in the washer and hoped for the best!
I cringed as I blindly pulled loads (yes plural) of laundry out of the washer, not wanting to witness the permanent damage. I kind of peaked at my favourite light green and white quilt through my fingers, and I couldn’t find one spot of blood! Not one slightly dulled stain, not anything that reminded me of what had happened to them!
I couldn’t believe this $2.99 stain remover had saved my son’s pajamas and bedding, not to mention my sanity. So, thank you to my favourite bunch a farmers for cleaning what should have never come clean.
– Snuggle Mom
P.S. I’m not the only Snuggle Bugz blogger who has had pajamas saved by the Buncha Farmers stain remover. Read Lydia’s story – complete with… evidence…
Wash em’ or Toss em??
That sure is the question about 4 times a day when mister Myles does a ‘poop explosion’ up his back, down his leg, up the front- you name it, this baby has done it!! Seriously if you have ever met this lil’ fella you probably witnessed this happening a time or two a dozen….
Here is the damage that occurs on a regular basis *note* if you are preggers and experiencing nausea you may want to scroll quickly! 😉
Hence, this post was a no-brainer. Let’s be honest here- when a poop-explosion or ‘poonami'(as Adam likes to call it) occurs I am usually out so the ‘damaged goods’ are often hiding in a bag that I am dreading to open. I am no ‘super-mom’ and often don’t tackle the stains until the next day or two (the sleeper in the photo is a day old *blush*)….
I was pretty confident that Myles’ poo stained sleepers & onesies were destined for the trash until I was introduced to a buncha farmers…..”well, hello there! Great to meet you and thank you for saving 95% of my son’s wardrobe!”
Check out me putting the stick to the test of its lifetime:
Tossed it in the wash…..and TA-DA!! the proof is in the pictures:
Why I have fallen in love…
– Its super cheap (only $2.99!!!) and it lasts forever
– 100% natural- who wouldn’t love this?! Esp. when it is goes right next to babe’s skin
– Canadian company
– it smells good, even after putting it to use! 😉
– most of all because it works!! (even when I don’t get to the stain prompto)
My only warning is keep it out of reach of kids. Kellan has a way finding this stick and thinks it some sort of treat (possibly a hunk of fudge or butter….not that I feed him these things). I have found him munching on the stick a handful of times! If he only knew where it was last….yum. 😉
Mister Myles wanted to show-off and did this as I was writing this post (seriously)!
Affordable, fun and some of my favourites. As I have been hanging out with the kiddos this week I have noticed a couple items that we use on a regular basis that I absolutely love and couldn’t live without!! So, I thought why not share them with you, along with giving you the opportunity to win a prize package with a sample of each! Yahooo, a simple and easy way to win!
Beaba Soft Cups
There came a point at our supper table that I thought I might just as well spill everyone’s milk for them so we could just get that over with and move on with the meal. I honestly remember before the Beaba cups countless glasses of spilled milk each meal… and voila, in walks the Beaba cup. Small enough that the perfect amount of milk is poured and designed with a square base that pretty much eliminates spilling!
We use the Lunch Punch characters on a daily basis, not because the kiddos won’t eat the crust…(although that’s another great use for them) but because who wouldn’t want to eat a sandwich in the shape of a butterfly. They are the perfect size they cut away minimal bread leaving very little waste. All three of the Snuggle Kidz have their favourite shapes and enjoy picking out what they will use each day. We use these for pizza, sandwiches and toast, although I am sure there are many more creative uses for the Lunch Punch characters…. maybe we should try pancakes next.
Every night, our older children take water to bed with them. I can’t say this is always a good idea as “pee breaks” become a great excuse to get out of bed frequently. But our Klean Kanteens are a staple that keeps their water nice and cold through out the night, doesn’t leak, and lets them have a quick sip and go back to sleep. In all honesty, we take these everywhere with us, from swimming lessons and dance class, to long car trips, you will always find us with our Kleen Kanteen.
Buncha Farmers Stain Remover
All Natural, all amazing! The Buncha Farmers Stain Remover removes the toughest stains that I would have given up on in the past. A couple days ago, poor sweet Baby V was playing, when she fell and her tooth cut through her lip.. I know a collective squirm.. as we all know how sad this is when it happens to our little ones. Needless to say there was blood all over her shirt. We cuddled for a bit, threw her clothes in the laundry and I returned to take care of Baby V, promptly forgetting all about the stained shirt. Three days later I return to the shirt (I should be embarrassed to admit how long it took me to get back to the laundry, but I will forever blame our crazy schedule)… and I tackled it with the Stain Remover, and all the stains disappeared. Works on grass, grease, blood, red wine, ink, berry… and so on and so on! This is a pure miracle worker on our stains.
I would love for one lucky reader to win a package with all of the items mentioned!! All you need to do is write a comment below letting our readers know what some of your favourite affordable items are!! Each person who comments will have their name entered into a draw. This contest will close at midnight on Friday March 18, the winner will be announced on our Facebook Page on March the 19th. Good Luck! (We will allow for one entry per person)
