Litterless Lunches? Problem Solved!!

It’s back to school time and I am all excited for my munchkins. Little A.J is starting kindergarten this year, and big brother is starting Grade 1, all day every day! I loved school as a kid especially getting ready and all the excitement around new school supplies. This year though, we are adding some new items to the “must have” list for school supplies.

All of the schools are slowly turning to litterless lunch programs. I love that we are teaching our children to be conscious of the environment and continuing to emphasize re-using and re-cycling that the home environment is already applying. But…. it has been difficult in the past to find easy ways to send a “litterless lunch”. So many items are pre-packaged, and those that aren’t I am very accustomed to using ziploc bags! Although ziploc bags can be reused a couple times, they def. won’t hold up for an entire year!

So, two of my most recent favourite finds are making back to school lunches a whole lot easier!

1. Goodbyn  Lunch Container:

This Byn has 5 compartments that will fit many different options for lunches!  Top of our list are items like strawberries, yogurt, cheese and crackers, sandwiches… pretty much anything your little one wants will fit.  There is also a space for a drink container, but you could also maximize space and use that for food storage also.  The best part is that it comes with hundreds of dishwasher safe stickers, so that your child can design it to match his/her personal style.

2. Snack Bags

If you choose to go with a different lunch container, you can’t go wrong with these Snack Bags.  I put anything from fruit and cheese to sandwiches in them.  Each child has a couple and it makes lunches so simple and “Litterless”!  The best part about them is that they are machine washable, so when hand washing just won’t do it, I throw it in the next load and they are ready to go!

Have you used either of these?  Would you like to win a Snack Bag?  Comment below and let us know some of your favourite snacks to pack in lunches.  We will choose a couple lucky winners to each receive a new Snack Bag… contest closes Monday September 12, 2011, at 11:59pm EST, and winners will be announced the following day.

Contest Requirements:

- winner must be a resident of Canada
- only comments with answers will be considered eligible enteries
- once the winner has been drawn I will make every effort to contact them.  If I can not contact them with in 2 weeks of the contest a new winner will be drawn

Looking forward to reading other suggestions!!!

I could go on and on. I pack everything into resuable containers but sometimes those take up too much space in the lunch kit so winning the snack bags would be great!

Haven’t used the Goodbyn lunch container but it looks fabulous and really seems like something that will grow with him into big boy school.

My son is starting JK this week! He has multiple anaphlactic allergies including milk, eggs and peanuts so packing lunches are not going to be easy! Having these snack bags would certainly be helpful! I make most of his snacks as store bought are not an option as they are not “safe”. Blueberry mini muffins are definitely a favourite!
