Have you started purchasing anything for your baby yet? Not sure where to start? Well, I’m in the same boat so stick with me and we’ll figure this thing out together.
The first thing I wanted to sort out was my stroller. I was a little overwhelmed with all the different types out there so I popped into Snuggle Bugz as I knew they would help me out. They have a huge selection of strollers to test out, fold, and even try in your trunk! And thank goodness for their knowledgeable sales associates, with so many options, they definitely helped me navigate through the different types of strollers to really get down to what I need. There are jogging strollers, umbrella strollers, singles, doubles… the list goes on and on. But after speaking with Katrina at the Burlington store and trying out various strollers, I really had to ask myself “What do I want out of this stroller?”.
Here’s a list of what I came up with:
- A good every day stroller (I’m not a jogger… yet!)
- One that isn’t too hard for me to lift
- A stroller that can eventually fit two kids
- Would love it to be able to attach a bassinet
- A stroller that has adaptors for a car seat
- One that’s easy to move around
- Would like a bug protector (for summer walks!)
- Stable enough to hold my diaper bag
- Storage underneath
Once my ‘wish list’ was figured out, Katrina was able to point me in the right direction and we narrowed my choice down to a couple strollers…
THE 2017 UPPABABY VISTA VS. THE 2017 BABY JOGGER CITY SELECT LUX
When I was looking at the UPPAbaby Vista and the Baby Jogger City Select LUX, I really didn’t notice a difference. Have you also been debating between the two? I asked Katrina a bunch of questions that helped me and will hopefully help you too.
One of the main differences is the profile at the very front of the strollers. With the LUX, you’ll find that the frame is a bit wider and the weight goes over top of the wheels. This can actually make it a bit harder to move things around but it can also hold more weight at the front of the stroller. Quite the opposite for the Vista. It has a narrower profile and the weight sits behind the wheels making it more agile. It also means that you can’t put as much weight at the bottom of your stroller. Why does this matter? Well, when you convert the stroller to a double you can have a heavier child in the bottom seat in the LUX. Let me explain the weight restrictions a little bit more.
To be exact, the LUX can hold up to 45 pounds in each seat. The Vista can hold up to 35 in the bottom seat and up to 50 pounds in the top seat. Both strollers require you to purchase either a second seat (for the LUX) or a rumble seat (for the Vista) to convert it from a single stroller to a double. They also both have the option to carry a third child by adding a piggy back ride-along board to the Vista or a glider board to the LUX. Pretty cool that they’re both capable of carrying three kids at once!
BASSINET & OTHER ACCESSORIES
Another difference between the strollers is the fact that the Vista comes WITH a sleep rated bassinet. This allows you to take the baby directly from the stroller to the bedroom without having to move them from their sleeping spot or worse… wake them from their sleep! With the LUX you do have the option to purchase a pram as an additional accessory. The Vista also comes with a bug shield for the bassinet and a bug shield and rain cover for the toddler seat, these accessories are available separately for the LUX. It’s important to note though that there is about a $300 price difference between the LUX and the Vista which probably accounts for the additional accessories you receive with the Vista.
One super cool accessory I discovered for the LUX is the ‘shopping tote’. Trust me, you have GOT to see it for yourself!
When folded, the frame of LUX will not stand up on its own. If this is something that concerns you then the Vista might be the better option for you. This feature might come in handy if the stroller needs to stand alone when in storage or when loading the car.
Good and bad news for comparing strollers… car seats are able to connect to both strollers. This makes for an easy to transition baby from car to stroller and vice versa especially in those winter months!
Ok mamma, I’m not sure if this comparison has made your decision easier or harder as they are both AMAZING strollers but whatever you decide don’t forget to ask about ordering times as it can take about a month if quantities aren’t in stock and much longer than that if you’re picking a popular colour or model.
In the end, I decided to go with the UPPAbaby Vista as it comes with all the features and accessories that I’m looking for.
What’s the next baby gear to purchase? The car seat. Good news! We’ll be talking all about that in next week’s post.

It’s the day you have been waiting for – our annual stroller event is happening Saturday June 3rd from 10am-4pm!
Save the date and join us from 10am until 4pm at Snuggle Bugz headquarters – 1040 Sutton Drive, Burlington.
Stroller Day has easily become one of our most popular events and for good reason! It is a fantastic one-day only stroller extravaganza – a day completely dedicated to all things strollers and we have great deals to boot!
Here are some of the highlights of this annual one-day event:
- Amazing offers from our most popular stroller brands – available only at the event!
- Meet & greet with brand representatives on-hand to compare your favourites and answer all of your questions.
- Test drive your favorite stroller in real-life situations – grass, sidewalk, bumps and hills!
- A food truck! Yum – lunch date with your significant other?
- Buy a regular priced stroller and you will receive $50 in free accessories!
If you are a Stroller Day rookie or just in need of a Stroller Day refresher – we have put together some tips on how to get through the event with the absolute most fun:
Rain Rain, Go Away!
Not going to lie, we obviously would rather it be sunny and warm, but in the event that we cannot control the weather Gods, this event will happen should it rain. We have tents and umbrellas and an indoor area that will be our saving grace should it downpour. Fingers, toes, even eyes crossed the clouds hold back until 4:02pm. Dress according to the weather!
Avoiding the lineup is always a big question people ask! If you do not like lines than we don’t suggest coming first thing in the morning. This is usually where the morning early bird line forms. However, come as a team, especially if you have a young child with you. One person stands in line, while the other browses around, takes a break, or picks up a delicious treat from the on-hand food truck! If you don’t need to take your stroller home with you that day, it is usually best not to stand in line and skip some of the hustle and bustle! Usually by 2pm (nap time) things slow down till around 3pm. Then from 3-4pm there will be another last minute rush again!
Don’t panic if your stroller/accessory is not available to take home the day of the event. While we do our best to have as many strollers available as possible, we will run out of strollers at some point during the day. When this happens, you will be able to special order the stroller/accessory you have chosen and pick up or ship to you at a later date – estimated time of arrival of your special order will be determined at time of purchase.
Please note that this event we will only accept Cash, Debit, Master Card, and Visa. AMEX, and Gift Cards will not be accepted. Be sure to plan for this accordingly. We do not want any sad faces on Stroller Day!
Can’t make the event?
While the amazing promotional offers extended by our brands are only available at the event itself, you can still take advantage of receiving $50 in free accessories with the purchase of a regular priced stroller both in-store and online. If shopping online add your stroller and over $50.00 in accessories to your cart and check-out using coupon code SD201750 to receive $50 off.
*This promotion is valid only when a regular priced stroller is purchased in combination with $50 or more of stroller accessories. Offer valid on June 3rd online only. ALL SALES FINAL. Cannot be combined with other offers.
We can’t wait for June 3rd and hope to see all your smiling faces too! If you have any other questions you need answered before Stroller Day, be sure to leave us comment a below or chat with us on Facebook.
As a family of five, we have used our stroller almost every day for the past seven years, and I foresee us continuing to use it for at least another year or two. In the past we have relied upon our larger triple stroller for our Irish triplets, but as our kids are growing up, a quality, lightweight, convenience stroller is just the ticket. We recently test drove Maxi-Cosi’s new Kaia Stroller, and found it met all of our needs and more!
To start with, the Kaia is a beautiful stroller. I know we should only be concerned with the specs and safety (and of course, I’ll get to that!), but I had to start off here – you will love the look of this modern, sleek stroller. I love neutrals, so the special edition Sparkling Grey won be over immediately! Other cosmetic features that you’ll love are the huge under basket (the largest I’ve ever see on a compact stroller) and cup holder. With the nice weather finally here, I like to leave the house with my kids in the morning and not come home until dinner time, so having small features like this are a huge help.
There’s so much to love about the Maxi-Cosi Kaia. It folds up super easily and takes up very little space, It’s adaptable with an infant car seat, and suitable for kids all the way up to 50lbs. This little gem is the only stroller you’ll ever need, from birth until they’re out-running you!
As a tall mom, I have had such trouble finding strollers with handles tall enough as not to leave me hunching over and a frame that allow for my long stride. I’ve also heard this complaint from most dad’s I know! Yet this compact stroller sports higher handles and is shaped perfectly for a long stride. If you’re a petite mom, this won’t bother you at all, but for taller folks it’s a game changer.
Much lighter than my triple stroller, the Kaia comes in a 19lbs. Even though it’s lightweight it’s a very stable, solid stroller, unlike some compact and umbrella strollers on the market. For this next stage of life for us, with our babies growing up and always on the go, this stroller is a terrific option! It is strong enough to accommodate heavy usage (we rarely drive and use our stroller almost daily) and heavy kids! Our youngest still has 15lbs of wiggle room before she’ll outgrow the Kaia and even our older kids can use it if they get tired while we’re out. This is a reliable, affordable, and beautiful stroller! High five, Maxi-Cosi!
Whether you’re buying a stroller for the first time or looking to upgrade your current model, stroller shopping can be a daunting task. With so many amazing option, styles and color choices on the market, you’ll want to make sure you find the right one to fit you and your lifestyle.
We’ve put together a list of questions to help guide you to finding the perfect stroller.
The first question to ask yourself is how do you want your infant to sit in the stroller?
If you want them to remain in their car seat you’ll want to look for a stroller that has adaptors to attach the car seat to. Alternatively, if you want them to sit in the seat, look for a stroller that is infant compatible with lie flat seat backs and adjustable footrests like Valco Baby’s Snap Ultra. A third option is putting the baby in a Pram or Bassinet for a stroll as some strollers have the ability to swap out the seat for this accessory. Check out the new 2017 Uppababy Vista as it has included a bassinet option
The next question to ask yourself is when do you want to use this stroller? Just for now or now and in the future (with possible baby number 2)?
If you are looking for a single seat stroller there are many full size options available to you. If you think you’re going to be strolling with two in the next year or so, some strollers can add a second seat like the Baby Jogger City Select Lux. Having twins? Or need two-seater options right from the start? Double strollers that are side-by-side or tandem are the right ones for you.
Ok, now that you’ve narrowed it down to a single or double stroller, what will you be mainly using your stroller for? Strolling? Jogging? Travel?
For everyday strolls you’ll want to look for a stroller with easy maneuverability, one-hand steering and possibly a large under-basket storage. If you plan on running with your stroller, a Jogging stroller is perfect for you. They have large tires and a front wheel lock to add extra stability while you run. Check out the Thule Urban Glide. Plan on doing a lot of travelling with your stroller? You’ll want to look for lightweight options that fold compactly like the Mountain Buggy Nano.
Last question, where will you be using stroller? City sidewalks or all-terrain?
Maneuver city streets with one-handed steering and hop on public transit with a quick folding stroller like Bugaboo’s Bee5. Prefer strolling on paths and in parks? Bumbleride’s all-terrain strollers have weather resistant fabrics and all wheel suspension for a smooth ride over uneven ground.
Still stroller stumped? Visit any of our Snuggle Bugz store locations to test-drive our many floor models and our associates will be able to help you find the stroller that’s perfect for you.
